I bought an Asahi Spotmatic while on the Hospitalship REPOSE, VietNam 1968-1969. Spent a year there. Loved the camera, but when my brother died in a helicopter crash Out of appreciation for his opinion that I should only buy CANON, I used his canons and gave my Spotmatic to a raceing/sailing pal. I regret it, those film canons of his died shortly after he did. And though I had bought a canon rod 30 D believing that that was probably the digital way to go...NOT FORE me .I now have the full frame Pentax K-1 and a k s2 and I can use my Pentax lenses. I would love to have your SPOTMATIC & 50mm film camera, but for the next 6 weeks I’m repaying my wife(I get an allowance) for a recent lens purchase she subsidized for me, above what I had saved. Anyway, I will be pretty BROKE for a while now. If you don’t happen to sell it in the near future, remember me and P.M. me with price and details again. RJM
For information purposes, there were many versions of the Pentax Spotmatic from the '60s and '70s, but the Spotmatic F was the first to use full aperture metering. All previous versions were stop down metering (darker viewfinder at stopped down f-stops.
