This is one of the more difficult updates as Apple drags us into the future. But that is where we must go.

Statement on OSX 10.15 Catalina

Red River Paper has received a number of complaints that after updating to Catalina, some aspects of the print process no longer work. This is fairly common with each new version of OSX. Given that "printing season" is upon us, Red River Paper recommends you do not update to 10.15 Catalina at this time. New operating systems take between 3-6 months before they are fully vetted and free of major bugs. If you value your ability to print or it is critical to your business, do not update.

I haven't had any problems with printing either text or images with Catalina, I did notice however, that it takes a little longer to send the respective data to the printer. So far, so good...

jbk224, I think you will find 32 bit apps run on 64 bit Macs... I have been doing so for several years. Apple wants to get rid of outdated apps to make sure everything that runs on the Mac is properly optimized and isn't an unnecessary drain on system resources. The 64 bit apps of course are faster and use less processor, etc.

32 bit apps will run on the hardware yes, but with the new OS, Catalina, it is 64 bit... Catalina will not run a 32 bit app without running it in a virtual machine with an older OS.

I just tested my printing this morning running on Catalina - Text of course was no issue, printed an image and it printed fine. Noticed no difference in speed or quality.

During my update, I did see that my print drivers were automatically updated with Catalina as well.

Why do you post this? It will mislead people into losing their 32 bit applications.

Apple as well as many other web sites, and postings from many users, have all said the 32 bit applications no longer run on Catalina.

From what you say, either you are a troll trying to cause other people trouble, or is clear that you have not installed the Catalina update.

Has anyone updated to Catalina yet, and if so have you noticed any photographic glitches. I don't usually like updating until the first few glitches have been ironed out, but I am still having problems with my Canon CR3 files sometimes appearing "black" and was hoping the new operating system might have addressed this problem. I look forward to comments and opinions.

I updated my Mac to Catalina. I downloaded 1000 photos approx. and I started to edit the photos, I suffered the whirling wheel of death that lasted about 18 hours. I finally had to do a hard reboot on the laptop. Thank god I did not loose any pictures. I just finished shooting a wedding. All worked out later but it was a total scare for sure.
