Has anyone updated to Catalina yet, and if so have you noticed any photographic glitches. I don't usually like updating until the first few glitches have been ironed out, but I am still having problems with my Canon CR3 files sometimes appearing "black" and was hoping the new operating system might have addressed this problem. I look forward to comments and opinions.

I would not upgrade to Catalina until you check all of your applications to see if they are 64 bit versus 32 bit. 32 bit will not work in Catalina and this may cause you more problems with your normal use of your Mac. This is a major 'upgrade' in OSX and I would wait even if you confirmed 64 bit compatibility.
I doubt Mojave's the cause of your problems with CR3 (I do not use CR3). Continue to try and work this out.

Thank you for that 64 bit information. I did check the specs and my desktop and laptop are apparently compatible. I will definitely wait a while before updating.

For ANYONE considering an upgrade to macOS 10.15 (Catalina), it's well worth taking a few minutes to check your apps for compatibility. Here's an article that tells you how to do so in an easy to understand way:

https://www.maketecheasier.com/check-32-bit-apps-mac/

Up until now, you'd get a warning that "soon" apps would not work. If that's a concern for you, make sure you can either update the app, find a replacement, or hold off upgrading, as Catalina disables 32-bit apps.

M,
It's not about your hardware, it's about your software. See the reply from Fred. Don't rush into this until you fully understand the the how the upgrade will affect your other applications. This is not your typical OSX upgrade.

This new OS will probably won't run anything Adobe CS6 or older. I am sure it won't run Adobe Illustrator CS6 and I'll bet the same for all the other Adobe products of that era. This will be a real bummer for hobbyist.

Forgot, older Microsoft Office programs won't run too.

Incidentally, there is a free app called Go64 that will make it to identify those 32-bit apps and help you decide.

https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/index.html

Sometimes an app comes along just at the right time and serves the right purpose. In a bit, Go64 will have no real purpose. But for now, it lets you export a list of apps to a spreadsheet file, which includes the developers' web sites, version number, and even lets you input the cost of upgrading.

Apple's method only lets you see the applications. Go64 lets you do something about them (like delete them directly from within the app).

Upgraded and found Catalina to be HORRIBLE! Install was not a problem, but practical use is on a par with the Ford Edsel and New Coke.

FWIW: I upgraded last night, been running it all day, smooth as silk... no issues other then a couple apps that will not work, nothing to worry about, useless apps pretty much anyway taking up disk space ;) I also had just added a Thunderbolt attached SSD using Mojave, then saw Catalina was available so went for the Gusto! :)

Looking good so far.

Thanks for validating that at least in knowledgeable hands such as yours, it could function properly.

No problem here also. Upgraded both my iMac and laptop to Catalina, both running well. The new Catalina didn't like my Raw Therapy version, uninstalled it, not a big deal. Maybe I'll try to reinstall it later. Everything else works fine.

I had thought about it and then got this message that CC Library stopped the update. I'll have to look into that.

Apparently there are issues with Lightroom as Adobe has inexcusably not updated all components to 64 bit.

I upgraded to Catalina yesterday and this morning my laptop failed to wakeup to either finger print or password; I then forced a turn off and now everything seems to be working smoothly. We will see...
