Yeah. A different kind of hot air balloons.
Natures.

Stinking clouds.

Hopefully another day.

Different thing, but when we'd go to the Colorado river to our campground we are members of, there was a guy with a stripped off Pontoon boat he'd put a large winch on and he's sell rides in a Para-sail.
My wife tried to talk me into going for a ride.
I finally squelched that when I told her if I tried it, I'd want to buy one. I already have the boat.

I bet the Propane guy is a happy camper.

We make a small but significant contribution to their pockets year round but this event is the black Christmas week for the vender that lands the contract.
Figure 30 gallons of propane for most balloons as a minimum times 550 balloons twice a day for most days over 9 days and that’s a lot of gas. Ride balloons carry more propane and smaller balloons may carry less.

That alone figures 16,500 gallons.
At a rough price of $2.36 per gallon = $38,940.00

Now I don't know what the vendor profits are, but those seem like significant numbers.

30 X 2.36 = $70.80 per tank full.

But.... What a RIDE that must be!!!

In 2000 we had 1000 balloons participating so almost double the fuel. So glad they brought the number of balloons down. My first couple of Fiestas we had 750 balloons launching. Landing has become pretty small in town as the holes fill up with new construction.
