I shot this on the 27th at oh dark thirty. I used a Canon 7D Mark II and my Tamron 150-600mm lens.
I mounted this setup on my AVX mount and set my wireless shutter for 30 second exposures at ISO 800 at F:/11. This is a 4 photo stack in Lightroom and some tweaking to pull more detail. Fairly decent result for a cold start of the season.

I'd say it's a fine start Jim , keep it up{It only gets better} . I got my compact 80mm guidescope guiding better than expected since receiving it yesterday .

Nice. I have the same combo and am wondering why not open it up to f6.3 and turn ISO up to 1600 or 3200 with shorter exposures? It looks like your focus and tracking is very good. I'm just thinking what I'll try when I'm actually able to get out under good skies with mine.

Beautiful Jim!
Great to see you again!

I've been looking at Stellarium for Orion. But so far, beyond my ability to stay awake.

Thank you for the welcome back.
I didn’t stay up, just got up early. I’ll do that again on Saturday. I’m going to shoot a time lapse of the balloon mass ascension if all goes well. 750 balloons makes for a lot of color but I have never tried this before.

Thank you very much.
I think you’ll like the results. I was trying to hold down the noise but gained it back when I brought the levels up for running man.
The seasons very young.

Oh Boy! Can't wait to see that!
Going to use an Intervalometer? I love the heck out of mine, great for night or day.
Good luck with the shoot!

Thank you. Everything will come down to weather. I have made a few other time lapses in the past but always near the event.
I’m not sure which lens I will use from almost 6,000 feet above but I’ll do my best.

6,000 feet above?
Don't melt your wings, Icarus.

Going up in a plane, or a balloon?
