I agree RichinSeattle. I have 6 grandchildren and they are interested in only taking pictures with smartphones. I think some combination of smartphones and mirrorless cameras will merge to form a new device. I just traded my Nikon equipment for an Olympus OM DE M1 Mark II. It is a small computer with interchangeable lenses. There are aspects built into this camera that I doubt I will ever use. But I needed to go to a lighter system due to back problems.

In 50 years, my grandkids (should I be fortunate enough to have any) will haul that thing off the shelf and laugh at what grandpa used to make pictures. Once I finish playing with it, it'll be a museum piece - or junk.

Its all about training. My Grandson is 13. We went to Daytona Beach in July. We only took film cameras. He enjoys using them. He is going on a extensive school trip next spring. Told me he wants to take his Canonet QL17. He has a Nikon D200, early 90s Nikon 35mm but he wants the Canonet. I am a blessed man!
