I want to thank all of you for taking the time to post your comments and suggestions. I so appreciate your willingness to help and guide with your particular impressions of my images.

I posted these without stating what I saw in them specifically because I knew what I wanted to convey - my goal was to get input to see if what I saw translated to an appealing image to others. I believe I have succeeded with the qualification that I believe every image can be improved. The tree in the background was just there, and there was really no way I could shoot around it. The image in #1 was so dominated by the house because there were a bunch of distractions (telephone poles, mailboxes, road, etc.) that I either had to include in the image, shoot around, or try to get rid of by cloning or deleting a lot of stuff in PP. I chose the path of least PP so the image became what it is given the parameters I had to deal with.

The consensus seemed to be to crop a bit more judiciously on image #1, get rid of the bush on the right and possibly try a b&w. I agree that cropping the image and editing it to monochrome added a different, and pleasing, dimension to the image. That's the one I posted below.

Again, thanks and good shooting to all my fellow hoggers who were willing to help me on my journey... take care,

A great improvement. The only thing I would suggest would be for you to leave the left side of the image as it is, but pull back just a smidge so the right side of the barn is shown.

Love it! Going to b&w emphasizes the building even more.

This is sort of what I was talking about... but I don't know that this would be the best way. There is so much to love about that second picture. <3

I see your point about cropping the tree crown down a bit, and I like it! I didn't think of doing that, but I will certainly keep that concept in mind for the future - thanks!

I am asking fellow Hoggers for your opinions - of these two images, which do you prefer? (If you don't like either of them, please be kind... )

One is a more close-in version with a shed in the background - tried to emphasize the house with everything else secondary. The second is a more panoramic, inclusive shot with a different shed off to the left and the house being a bit less prominent. I would welcome any and all input as I am torn betwixt and between. Thanks!

They both show you know your stuff with a camera, Tommy. My pick is the second one.
