Nice work of art, like a watercolor. Very pretty and tells a good story.
As a photo it's not good.

Good eye! Award winner!
As a juror, I am interested in why you think this is an award winner.

Several reasons. To me the lone man depicts the emotion of loneliness waiting for the person behind him to complete his breakfast, studying the beverage in front of him. Possibly planning how he will make it through the day. The subdued lighting gives the appearance of very early morning before the rush of customers. A very good example of content exceeding the value of technical perfection. An excellent human interest photo.
Okay, I think I got it. You see strong human conditions in the photo. It had been said, "Art exists in the space between the viewer and the object." We all bring some of our experiences to looking, and my first take was that a very fat man was taking up two stools and made a joke, especially since I saw him as extracted and put into a surreal scene. I imagine there are many ways viewers built a story around this photo. Thanks for letting me in on yours.
As an aside: it is my horror as a juror to miss something, perhaps something great, and not put a good photo into an exhibit.

I usually am not drawn to rendering that is rendered this much, but I really like this. Very, very nice job.

Like this a lot. It looks quite near to an Edward Hopper painting.
Thanks fox I did not have that in mind but thanks for looking. RBorud

Lots of work, to be admired. However, the figure and the background differences stretch believability.
Thanks for looking Bob. I do not think believably was one of my criterion's. More I think fantasy. RBorud
