I clone my 1 TB SSD in a few hours, with Acronis, not days.
Yours could be taking longer because the source/original drive is faulty.
I’d watch for the end to see if the cloning was successful.

There is a setting in the "Advanced" tab in "Options" for "Validating" a backup. One may also select "Validate" by right clicking the arrow in the Backup list. I learned this from an Acronis tech while in a Chat. It is important to make sure a backup is validated before recovery of that image. I have configured all my backups to automatically validate. Validation also takes a while. I have had occasions (and blessings) to recover backups. They have all been successful.

Thanks. That’s REALLY important to know.
Yes, cloning has saved my butt more than once. It also helps migrating to a new computer.

That's a great tip Mark - I just set it to validate after backup, and also on a monthly basis. Thanks!

Thanks, Bill. I used Acronis for years and did not know about validation.

Clonezilla is a good one, but not for the faint-hearted.

I've used AOMEI Backupper Free a few times. Nice friendly interface. And I found that it will image/clone a UEFI/GPT drive completely, which my good-old Ghost doesn't do.

Have not tried Clonezilla or any others for UEFI/GPT compatibility.

I don't mind $29 a year for quality software that has saved my butt a number of times. My choice is Acronis, but I respect other preferences.

I use Acronis 2013, 2TB takes less than an hour.

Time is dependent on the type drive(SSD vs Sata) and processing speed. One may even close the Acronis application and the backup will continue to completion.

You don't mention an OS, but if MAC highly recommend Carbon Copy Cloner
