I was recently in East Greenland shooting a documentary, and managed to sneak away for a bit with my still camera. This represents my vision of HDR, neither overcooked nor too photorealistic. This was shot with a Samyang 8mm fisheye. I'm not a fan of fisheyes, but it was the only way to get the angle I wanted. I used a Photoshop plugin to straighten the verticals, though this leaves horizontal lines bowed. I am also uploading a similar shot done with a rectilinear UWA. Also nice, but I like the streak of sunlight in the snow in the fisheye. Both processed from 9 exposures handheld, 1 EV apart, in Photomatix Pro. Different processing parameters, different feeling, but both work for me.

Is that actually what is outside? I hope you took images of that scene as well.

I am happy I do not have to say the name of that place! Love the stairs!
Is that the real location of the property......... or did Kymarto's keyboard develop a fault?
I think they're great except why didn't you make both photos vertical orientations? That's a very interesting staircase. Would like to have seen it all the way to the floor. The window definitely adds a lot to the image.

Well done...thanks for sharing. When Greenland becomes a US territory, I’m spending my next vacation there.
I love the quality of light from the door. I also would have liked to see the bottom of the staircase to complete that line, if you have it to give.

The problem with including the bottom of the stairs was that with the fisheye it would have bowed the horizontal lines of the window. I felt that it was necessary to keep the window looking vaguely rectangular. So, a compromise. Also, the stairs started at the door frame, which would have meant including quite a lot of ugly floor, which upset the composition IMO.
Here are a few shots of the town (basically pronounced (eat-tok-core-tour-mit). FYI it is considered the most isolated settlement in the world-350 inhabitants, with the nearest other humans being 1000 km away in Iceland. They do a lot of fishing and hunt narwhals and polar bears. A supply ship comes twice a year. Not many fresh fruits and veggies. Scoresby Sound is the largest fjord system in the world, and it is spectacular--as you can see by the last pics.
