My doctor prescribed me a camera

Being new to photography and to the mighty Ugly Hedgehog forum (I’m sure there’s a story of how the Ugly Hedgehog’s became to be).
As for me, I had my annual medical physical last fall - and as we were finishing up, the doctor said, “I’m think I’m going to write you a prescription for a camera, because if you don’t get a hobby and get away from work, the next time I see you, I’m going to be writing a prescription for high blood pressure medication”.
I would say that’s when my photography days started. Now after endless hours of practice, some great and not so great advice (along with the YouTube videos), I’m making out what works for me. More importantly, I’m starting to get some gratification for something that starting to make sense.
Oh, as far as my blood pressure – it’s back down to somewhat normal.

Your doctor is very intelligent or very well read. Kudos to your doctor.
I have been photographing for the longest time. I started way back in high school in 1976. I have been going to my physician for the longest time. Funny thing though, my blood pressure is always the same. It never goes up or down. That is it is 120 over 80. I don't take medications to keep it that way.
Im not sure why this forum is called what it is. Perhaps "Cute Little Hedge Hog" was taken. Anyway this is a great place to learn, express yourself, and become a better photographer. Have lots of fun.

So true. But hell my Dr said I need to take up a hobby of drinking wine... anyway.. My story started when I was a baby, the father placed a Minox camera in my hands and I've never been without any camera since then.

You've got one smart doctor. I'd stick with him. If you haven't, take some of your photos in to show him. If he finds one or two that he shows interest, then have it printed, matted, and framed, and present it to him as a "Thank you" for keeping you off medications.
