Tried a Peak Design and no longer use any of my Black Rapid straps. Peak design is the most versatile and connectors are great!!

How do you find the Peak Design, superior to the Black Rapid?

Thanks

My favorite sling is Neewer Brand. It has very similar construction as the more expensive brands. The main reason I like it more than my other ones is......It has 2 zippered pockets built into the neoprene that perfectly fit my license, credit card, key fob and lens cap.

Interesting, so many opinions, I went to B&H two years ago, was able to try them all, I found Black Rapid worked well for me.
I have found buying photography accessories a lot like buying shoes, you really have to try them on before you buy.

BHPHOTOVIDEO.COM has them. They are around $50 but well worth it. I purchased a less expensive model made by another company that was quite similar BUT the part of that strap that attaches to the camera did not give me the confidence I wanted to keep my camera secure. The Black Rapid attachment is made of metal. The other was not.

I am still using the original version of the Black Rapid straps. It has performed flawlessly over the years.

I made one from some old climbing sling. It is ¾inch nylon tubing which is soft, flexible, washable & if needed can be made into a diaper sling!
I doubled the sling so it is variable length usable as on: 1- shoulder, lengthened to single tube across chest, or even around neck. I attached it to camera with quick release connectors from pair of binoculars. On the back of them are Velcro patches to hold lens cap, etc.
When detached (2nd foto) the binoc part works as short around my hand strap for instant snapshots. Also the slide to lengthen the nylon sling is shown.
I do not know what sling sells for these days, but I would imagine less than commercial straps + it comes in various colors! Good luck, hope you find one that fits you perfect.

1 inch tubular nylon webbing is VERY strong. I used it often back in the day.

Check out OP/TECH USA Utility Strap-Sling - this is what I have been using for over 8 years - it is comfortable and no failures which are my main concerns. As for the cost - this seems to be the best value out there...

I have something very similar to this one. I have been using it for several years with a full frame camera and many times long heavy lens. The major difference is mine has a screw mount and not the quick clip to attach things to the strap. Liked it so much I got another to keep on a different camera for easy switching during events. They are very comfortable even after all day. I especially like they can be slid out of the way and be ready in a flash (pun intended).

Wow. I’m overwhelmed with the replies. Thanks to all. This is great info and I’ll use it all. My wife says I over analyze every purchase (and I do). Thank you again!!

I finally went on B&H and looked at the Black Rapid straps, and I must comment. They''re just what were once known as neckstraps, but with a different attachment. My response is UGH. First, the attachment to the tripod socket would drive me bats and cause me to loose some shots, as I would have to fumble with the camera trying to get it upright, and I expect there could be tension on the body from the bottom.

And again, I must suggest the upstrap. upstrap-pro.com. It is designed to not slip off your shoulder. and at least for me it's comfortable. The camera doesn't bounce like with the straps made from the wet suit material.

Perhaps you are not looking at the appropriate item. That sounds more like a typical camera strap rather than the shoulder straps. The OP subject is in regards to shoulder straps and the inverted camera with a shoulder strap is not a problem. When I reach for my camera, its body position is in perfect align as if I were taking a shot to the rear, inverted of course, but as I bring the camera up to eye level, the viewfinder immediately aligns to my eye, my right hand is already on the camera ready for shooting, and my left hand comes up to provide support all in one fluid, sweeping motion. I don't need to right the camera as the swing upwards accomplishes that in the process. It is very effective, efficient, and quick like drawing a weapon from a holster---pretty much the same movements---and you don't need to right the weapon before you shoot....

Look closely at the sixth photo and notice how her hand is on the camera. As she swings her arm out and up the camera position will change from inverted to right side up ready for shooting. This is just one example.

To me in the photos you provided, it looks like an extra long neckstrap with a different piece of padding for the shoulder. But I cant imagine walking with a camera banging on my hipbone.

As someone already said, these things are like shoes, try before you buy.

The Black Rapid’s are nothing like a standard neck strap. I also have an Up-Strap. It is a good strap. But still a standard style strap. Yes, it does not slide off the shoulder.
