The Black Rapid on my 7D2 still looks new after 3 years of every day use ,I really like the strp that goes under the arm to stop it from sliding around

There are tons and tons camera straps available on the market. I recommend giving the Peak Design Slide a look.

I love mine for its versatility and the several ways that it can be worn and ease of adjustment. with the anchor clips it comes with (4) means you can use it for one than one camera or for other things.

Any recommendations on a good side shoulder strap?

Nikon is happy with Black Rapid products, despite the many naysayers that hanging a camera upside down from its tripod socket is a recipe for disaster. It isn't.

I've been using Black Rapid sling straps for 8 yrs without a single mishap. I am careful, and always check to ensure that the part that screws into the body (or lens foot) is firmly tight and the locking screw collar on the little carabiner is also secure.

As you’re doing your research, be sure to check where the strap attaches to your camera. Not knowing, I bought one that attached to the tripod mount. Not only was it a PITA, but I always worried that it would somehow come unscrewed and the camera would drop. Never happened but I ditched it none the less.

Pro media gear has the best attachment shoulder strap. Trust me.

I just spent my vacation walking around every day with my camera slung crossbody with a Peak Design strap and there was no discomfort at all. I really like their straps.

I ditched my Black Rapid strap for a Peak Design strap. It is very versatile. It works well around my neck or over either shoulder. It can be attached and unattached to the camera with one hand and the strap length can be adjusted easily with one hand. I can take it off my D500 and put it on my D810 in seconds so one strap is all I need.

I have had the same experience though not over as long of a period. Always a good practice to check your gear before heading out---it leads to less issues. I also use their safety tether.

The only issue I have encountered is that the switches on my lens will sometimes will change positions due to the lens rubbing against my leg. Other than that, I love the balanced feel of the camera hanging at my side---5D4 with Sigma 150-600mm, strap attached to the tripod mount of the lens---and I really like the slide locks that keep the camera from moving about when walking.

The advice above is very good. I use the Black Rapid Sport strap for my camera or for a long tele lens. I have added a Quick Release clamp to it and attach the camera to it or to the tele lens' tripod collar foot. The double Black Rapid strap is the best buy for the money. With it you can use one or both as needed.

The OpTech system is very good too as are across the body straps from Peak Design. I really like how you can replace those connectors without having to buy a whole new strap.

Personally, I like the Black Rapid because the camera is always at the ready and can be raised to the shooting position instantly without having to be removed from the strap. When you are finished shooting, just lower the camera to the carry position, still on the strap. It has handy pockets that are magnetically closed so you don't have the noise of a snap closure. It comes without the pockets if that's what you want, for less money.

Of course it is a personal decision. Maybe you could borrow some different types and try them out.

Another vote for Peak Design Slide. It is longer than standard straps, and it stays in place.

Tried a Peak Design and no longer use any of my Black Rapid straps. Peak design is the most versatile and connectors are great!!

I'm not sure what you mean by a shoulder strap. If you mean one of those harness things, I'm clueless, I don't want to put on a strait jacket to take photos. But if you just want one that goes over your shoulder or around your neck, remember, the big problem can be a camera slung over your shoulder can easily make a quick trip to the concrete.

To avoid that pitfall, check out the Upstrap. they also have one with a steel cable in it to prevent crooks from cutting and grabbing.

Black rapid was and still my choice, many copycat jump on the wagon and came up with reproduction, there’s not too many thing you can change on a sling and slider, I bought one the very first time I try it.

Ever since I started using the BlackRapid strap, I don't worry about getting a sore neck.
