You can't have it all.

For the zoom range with 1" sensor, but not pocketable:
Sony DSC-RX10 IV ($1,698) 24-600mm f/2.4 to 4 (35mm Equivalent)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 ($597.99) 25-400mm f/2.8-4 (35mm Equivalent)

Pocketable with 1"
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 ($1,098.00) 24 to 200mm (35mm Equivalent)
Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200 ($697.99) 24 to 360mm (35mm Equivalent)

Hi there
Looking for a very good "bridge camera" suggestions considering:

Price
High resolution
1" sensor
Compactness
Image quality
Zoom lens at least 25X
and whatever else you deem important.

Last bridge camera I had was the Lumix FZ-35

Please be specific with brands and models.

Thanks for your help

I consider the best available to be the Sony RX10 IV.

A very close second place is the RX10 III. Same great 24-600 zoom lens and a bit less money.

I was very lucky to pick up a Panasonic FZ1000 during the Amazon Prime Day sale for a great price (real inexpensive) and have been impressed. Although it's not small enough to fit in your pocket (and it's been around for about five years) it does have a 1" sensor and produces good results. I love the electronic view finder and have found that the focusing system works pretty well. It also shoots RAW.

I would love to have another bridge camera -I had a few Panasonic Lumix FZs starting with the FZ3 up to the FZ7 Only up graded when I dropped one- gave it to my daughter for a travel camera when she became a flight attendant - time went by and a Canon sx 35 showed up - loved that camera so much I gave it to a young man who was doing missionary work - he has used it in about 5 countries - BUT - I am happy with my Canon XTi and T3i kit with it's assorted lens - but if someone feels the need to gift a Bridge camera to a 81 yr photographer just PM me for my address. LOL

Your requirements of "1 inch sensor", and "at least 25x zoom" narrow down the field hugely! The Canon G3X, made in 2015 fulfills these requirements and can still be had for around $850. If you want an EVF (recommended" add another $300). It will weigh around 25 ounces. The Sony RX10IV would be much preferred, however. If you can fore-go the "25x zoom" requirement, at only 10.5 ounces, (fits in a coat pocket,) the previously mentioned Sony RX100 zooms from 24-200.
Your requirements of "1 inch sensor", an... (show quote)

I believe the lumix LX 100 the latest model has m4/3 sensor as well

There are very few with a 25x zoom and a one inch sensor. Check out the Sony CyberShot RX 10 IV.

Check out DP Review--Buying Guide for enthusiast long zoom cameras.

If you can accept a smaller sensor, check out the Nikon Coolpix P900 (Jpeg only) and coolpix P 1000 (RAW or Jpeg) . And many others too.

On DPReview. That has been a treasure trove of information for me.

However, I have found a guy in my town who is expert and cares about his customer. Take a look around your town and try to find someone who isn't just interested in making a sale but will listen to your needs and make suggestions. He might even take the camera of interest, but a lens on it and let you handle it.

I'm going to have to reread this thread to figure out what a bridge camera is. Bridge from a phone camera to a dedicated camera? Someone enlighten me

A bridge camera is one that has a fixed zoom lens but looks like a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera that takes separate lenses. Two examples are the Nikon Coolpix P 900 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 20.1 MP Compact Digital Camera

I gave up SLR's when I went digital. Have had a Panasonic FZ1000 for several years now, bought to replace my Canon G12. Fantastic travel camera, not pocket size but still fits in a small shoulder bag with extra batteries and filters that I can still hump around all day (well, most days, the mountains getting steeper every year, and then I don't feel that bad about having my travel companion carry it). Meets my needs, YMMV.

I had the canon g3x bridge camera with 25x zoom ,with ND filter, weather sealed unit which is smaller than the Sony Rx10v. It had simpler menu system than the RX10 series.

There are various criteria, and each set will result in a different evaluation of 'best" - so you'll have to do a better job of specifying before you can corral this mob.
* size of sensor, or some measure of quality acceptable
* '35mm equiv' focal length
* preference for manufacturer?
* 'raw' required?
* size?
* weather resistant / water proof?
.........

Best bridge camera is the Sony RX10M4 hands down. Nothing to dislike about it and the results are quite good. If you want something better, wait until Sony does the RX10M5.

Gene is absolutely right. There is no bridge camera better than the Sony RX10 IV. That's why it commands such a high price. If you really want the best, look no further. Read the professional reviews; all agree that this is the best bridge camera out there.
