For my money, the best bridge camera made is the Sony RX10 Model IV. Not cheap, $1,700, but worth every dollar!

I’m not sure anyone can say with assurance what the best one is. Go to a camera store, handle several, and choose the one that best suits you and your needs.

So right-on!!!! There is a plethora of informative sources of up-to-date reviews of cameras on line. Why one would seek personal opinions of those who are already “wedded” to a system is beyond me... Enjoy the research, it can be fun and then head to the camera store of choice to get familiar with a few hands-on experiences.

Your probably right about that but there are add on lenses that work ok.
If the OP wants a superzoom then don't be looking at bridge cameras. If the OP is looking at bridge cameras for their compact size then maybe a small MILC like a Canon M50 would do. But then there's the whole lens thing. Oh well, you have to choose between versatility and superior image quality.

Look at the Panasonic line of compact and bridge cameras. I think you will be pretty surprised.

I bought a Lumix DC-ZS200 to avoid carrying all my DSLR gear on planes, trains, buses, and cars across the Canadian Rockies and beyond. Fits in my pocket, takes some learning, but took great pictures in raw, 24-360 zoom, Leica lens, etc. Can't wait to get home and start lightrooming.

follow rjwallace's comments above, or go buy the latest Panasonic FZ series you can afford. You already know the menu systems, should be familiar with the camera and be ready to use it. (It's probably a lot cheaper than some of the alternatives mentioned here). To me, the most important factor in a "bridge" camera is shutter lag - and probably why I sold every one I've ever bought. I'd also consider a Panasonic GX85 - see various reviews on you tube - smaller and to my view more versatile than any bridge.

Your requirements of "1 inch sensor", and "at least 25x zoom" narrow down the field hugely! The Canon G3X, made in 2015 fulfills these requirements and can still be had for around $850. If you want an EVF (recommended" add another $300). It will weigh around 25 ounces. The Sony RX10IV would be much preferred, however. If you can fore-go the "25x zoom" requirement, at only 10.5 ounces, (fits in a coat pocket,) the previously mentioned Sony RX100 zooms from 24-200.

Another vote for the Sony RX10 IV. I have owned one for a year, purchased used from Adorama. It is Outstanding! My Nikon D7100 is gathering dust.

Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000 handles all my “Bridge” camera needs. Great IQ, fast auto focus, and very balanced handling with great zoom which can double digitally. 2.8-4 Leica lens, great 4K video and 5 axis hybrid stabilization system. Super camera.
