I was not speaking about cell phones or their cameras. I was speaking about the pointless megapixel race that we seem to suffer again and again. And I was not promoting DSLR's as the answer. I own and use one, two bridge cameras, and own and use two mirrorless cameras as well, and am pleased with the results from all. I have said on this forum repeatably that the days of the DSLR are numbered.
That was said about rangefinder cameras, view cameras, and twin lens reflex. They all are still here being used. Will mirrorless drive nearly all extinct? Very probably. Completely? Probably not as the pentaprism viewfinder has a speed advantage that will persist for a long time. So I expect pro pentaprism cameras to remain around for quite some time. At least until some manages to create a camera with both.
