Ok guys I have my Nikon kit, D700 and 300s with a mashup of decent lenses 35-70, 25-50, 50 f1.4 etc nothing exotic. I have somehow also acquired a Pentax system, K5 and KS-2 with kit lens and 55-300. Couldn’t resist the deal from Dodd Camera.
I’ve got serious redundancy issues now, the Pentax’s are newer, 16 and 24mpxs, whereas my nikons are 12’s.
I’ve used Nikons my whole life, but the newer Pentax cameras really have me questioning keeping my Nikon kit, what would you do?
It seems like you already made a decision when you purchased Pentax and your description of MPs, technology, etc. Or keep both, reduce the redundancy in lens. Best of both worlds.

I would not have downgraded.
Perhaps choose whichever camera is most comfortable and easiest for you to operate. The less you need to struggle with a camera, the more enjoyable the experience.

You already own both sets.
Pick the one you like and upgrade/use that. Hold on to the other gear as backup or pass it on to someone just starting like a young family member.
If you decide to stay with Nikon you might consider a much newer body - I suspect the things about the Pentax bodies that attract you are almost all the newer tech than what you are used to. And they aren't that new.
If you want to stick with FX (D700) you have a range of newer Nikons from the 600 series up to the D850. If you want to stick with DX (D300 and the Pentaxs you picked up) then you have an even bigger selection in the Nikon and Pentax lines.
I would say that if you upgraded your Nikon bodies you would be better off overall. You are used to Nikon layouts and way of doing things.
Oh, I am a Canon shooter.
I don't suppose you would consider dumping both sets and going to Canon would you?
What ever you go with in today's world none of the major brands of camera is bad, they all make very good to great products. Unless you have money to burn just pick one and go with it. If you have money to burn then try different stuff all you want.
I just went back and checked your older posts.
You have gone through this with Oly also.
My suggestion: get a much newer used Nikon body and stick with Nikon, you are used to them and have more lenses etc.
Sell, pass on or keep the Pentax stuff to play with.
But go with the Nikon system you know and stop the brand jumping and agonizing over what to do. Look at something in the 7000 series like the 7200 which is a very good body and lower priced since it is a bit old now. But generations ahead of your present bodies.

Pentax equipment is a wonderful upgrade, but OP needs to make decisions
before spending money.

Have that conversation with the person you see in the mirror. He has the answer.
Nice problem to have I guess...sorry I can’t help.
Anyone know where I can get a good deal on SD cards?

I do not have enough information. Based on what you posted, sounds like you are leaning toward the Pentax system.

A tad harsh to suggest it's a downgrade to move to Pentax; perhaps you'd like to explain and justify ?

"serious redundancy issues"? You can never have too much redundancy! That would be like saying GAS is an illness!

Take a good look at Pentax - you got direction wrong ..... a definite
upgrade.
