I have done some research, and it looks like this camera takes very nice pictures.

I read the specs on this camera. And, it looks like it would be a good camera for snorkeling or very wet weather. It is rated to be waterproof to a depth of 49 feet for 60 minutes. A rating of IP68, a rating standard for industrial equipment.

The scuba industry has its own standards. For scuba diving it needs to be waterproof to a minimum of 130 feet for an unlimited length of time. For examples, google the Sea and Sea MDX RX100III, rating-328ft. Or, the Sealife DC2000, rating-200ft. The old Nikon Nikonos I/II/III/IV 35mm cameras were rated to 160ft.

It's Leica so great lens! But most reviews I've seen say the Olympus Tough TG6 is the best point and shoot underwater camera today. More feature rich for underwater use. Just released a couple weeks ago. I preordered mine and got it after 2 months wait time.

The main reason I bought the TG6 was for the underwater features. I'm a scuba diver but the thought of submerging one of my Nikons in salt water in a "waterproof" housing brings on a case of the Heebie Jeebies. Been there, done that! I will probably still buy the underwater housing for the TG6 even if I'm going to stay shallow. If/when it floods it's less than $500, still a big hit for me but not a huge hit. And it's still a great carry around, knock-about camera on dry land.

You’re right!
But we are going to do bell helmet diving, as well as some snorkeling, as so this Waterproof Leica, that’s rated to 49 feet is perfect for my usage !

Bell helmet diving? Never heard of that. Is it some kind of resort sport thing? How deep?

Looks interesting. But I think I'll stick with SCUBA.

I can understand that,
However I’m a 74 year old Vietnam Special Forces Vet, and this does fine for me!

I'm 65 and still diving. Dove the Great Barrier Reef in 2017. I think I've got another 5 years in me. I hope. Got more than 3000 dives under my belt.

I know a LOT about diving. There is NOT a lot of light below 30 feet, and not a lot of fish.
Theoretically - you can stay at 33 feet or less indefinitely and not break the 2:1 rule
Or 60 feet for 60 minutes for a no-deco dive. I would never do that.
I think the Leica would be a very ni$e camera - - but the Olympus would probably win on Value.

Yes - - I wrote that.

It’s all personal preference!
As either one is a excellent choice!
For me Leica is the right choice!

I just read your paper. I'm not a mathematician or an engineer. I figure I understood about 20% of it. I could probably absorb about 20% more with repeated readings. I'm glad I don't have to.

So do all of these calculations accompany personal diving experience? Or did this all come about through your association with the hyperbaric chamber? Did your work influence changes to the Navy Dive Charts or establish a new system of decompression parameters?

I'm just glad there are people like you to do the heavy lifting so I can enjoy the benefits and dive safely without the danger of getting bent.

I have to ask why you said you would never do a 60 minute at 60 feet no deco dive? I always incorporate an extra couple minutes at each stop safety factor for deco dives and add a stop to any ascent whether the tables require it or not. But you are suggesting, I think, that the tables aren't safe. I'm just curious.
