I just recently acquired a Pentax. I took it out for a test drive over the weekend. I'll be doing the processing this week sometime. It could be another of my favorites.

I wonder how many UHHogs are Pentax enthusiasts. I rarely see any Pentax related discussions. Since the dawn of Digital Photography Canon and Nikon, and recently Sony, have dominated the market.
Back in the film days I used Pentax, Nikon, Minolta and Yashica TLR (Twin Lens Reflex). Switching to Digital, I started out with Pentax K100D, then Nikon D7000 and D750.
I have now gone back to Pentax (KS70). I have only the DA 40mm limited and DA 15 mm lenses.
Looking fwd. to suggestions re: Pentax lenses including vintage lenses and your experience with the same.

Enjoyed my early Pentaxes, but went to Nikon. Back then, I needed a reasonably priced camera with a multi-exposure lever on it. Pentax, Minolta, and Canon did not have one, but the FM did, so I went with Nikon and haven't looked back.

Which is better a Chevy or a Ford? That question will never be answered . Same thing with cameras. Everyone has an opinion and who is to say who is right or wrong. I own Canon, Sony, Pentax, and Nikon. All have their strengths and weaknesses. No camera will make a poor photographer great and no camera will make a skilled photographer obscure. Buy what you want and learn how to use it. Your images will do the talking. I have seen pictures taken with a Canon T2 that rival anything I have seen taken with a Canon 1DXmkII.

I will agree however that my Pentax K70 does "feel" better in my hands.

My first Pentax was a P30T bought at Luke AFB in Phoenix. Lost it in brush in Sedona area, strap caught on brush and pulled it out of a waste bag. Replaced by a PZ-20. Then I started collecting Pentax. I have about 80 bodies from 110's to 6x7's. I am now on my 4th digital, a K-1 with a 24-70 2.8 that I use for about 98% of my shots. I agree that the 50mm 1.7 is a great lens. I think I have 2 A's and 1 M copy of this lens. My favorite body is the LX followed by the MX. The old 50mm lenses have such smooth focus damping that I like to just sit and adjust focus on them.

Went to Vietnam (68-69) Bought a Pentax Spotmatic with a 50mm f1.4 and a 200mm prime. Could never get enough of using it . Years later, when my younger brother(a navy photographer) died in a helicopter crash, I inherited his canon stuff, and even added to it with an EOS-30-D, and a few additional lenses. I used that stuff, awhile, but just did not think it measured-up. Gave it all to my son. I have since bought a PENTAX K-01, a PENTAX K-5, a PENTAX K-s-2(a wonderful camera, reminiscent of my film Spotmatic) and, most recently, I bought a PENTAX K-1 full frame, BEAUTY.. Of the amazing lenses I have by PENTAX, my absolute favorites; the 35mm prime MACRO, the 100mm prime Macro. The 77mm prime.the 50mm f 1.4, The 150-450mm tele. Actually, I have a veritable S___tload of Pentax lenses, would love to brag MORE, But I “one-finger “type, so you’re in luck. Pentax has a forum, but it’s not as slick as the Hogg, so I rarely go there. Recently bought a couple of FUJI bodies and 6 of their lenses. Fuji/Pentax,I don’t have any interest in any other brands. Not ENOUGH to actually BUY others. SOOOOO, even though ya don’t see much about PENTAX on the Hogg, the forum is LOADED with information, applicable to all things PHOTOGRAPHIC. Hang around. .....Bob

I was attending Cal during the 70's...but did not play baseball. I was dodging tear gas canisters with my Pentax Spotmatic!

I use a Pentax K3 and k10. I think they do a good job at my kind of photography — mostly birds, nature, and landscape. Also use to use them intensively for event photography for various organizations. They are great cameras and great values compared to comparable cameras from other manufacturers. My main complaint is the lack of third party lenses.

My first real camera was a Pentax Spotmatic back in '71. Owned Cannon, Mamiya RB67, and Pentax 645 film. Moved to Nikon when I went digital. Almost ready to buy a Pentax 645z and use my old glass from the film days.

I bought the first of my four Spotmatics in 1967 at the Navy Exchange in Yokuska Japan. I used them faithfully until Canon's autofocus in the early 90's - even with an M42 adapter for my collection of lenses. I bought an early Pentax digital K specifically to use my Asahi lenses but it died an early death. The corporate sale to Hoya then to Ricoh has taken the edge of Pentax. Their bumbling approach to mirrorless, the dearth of announcements and being buried in the Ricoh hierarchy foreshadows the complete demise of the brand.
Such a sorry end to a grand legacy and contributions to photography
