I wonder how many UHHogs are Pentax enthusiasts. I rarely see any Pentax related discussions. Since the dawn of Digital Photography Canon and Nikon, and recently Sony, have dominated the market.
Back in the film days I used Pentax, Nikon, Minolta and Yashica TLR (Twin Lens Reflex). Switching to Digital, I started out with Pentax K100D, then Nikon D7000 and D750.
I have now gone back to Pentax (KS70). I have only the DA 40mm limited and DA 15 mm lenses.
Looking fwd. to suggestions re: Pentax lenses including vintage lenses and your experience with the same.

I was one from 1962 (Pentax SV) through to the very early 1990's (Pentax Spotmatics). Had a Mamiya TLR for a while, however it didn't really suit my style of photography. Then I purchased a Canon SLR and stayed with Canon when I went digital in 2006. Nowdays (since 2015) it has been Olympus M4/3 system. I felt like i was comming back home to Pentax when I first picked one up.

I'm a Pentax enthusiast (as well as other brands) and I still use Pentax cameras and lenses. I do shoot quite a bit of film and besides my Canon EOS 1v, I mainly shoot with a Pentax 645n Mark II, as well as a Pentax 6x7, or my big Fuji. I use most of those lenses on my digital DSLR's as well!

LOL... I collect their old M42 lenses, and joined their forum so I can sell there from time to time, I had been using the site to research their lenses for some time. Would love to enter some of their photo contests but even though I may shoot with their old glass my exif data is going to have Canon written all over it.

I have been a Pentaxian for 49 of my 70 years.I have a 30,a 50,and a 70 currently. My favorite lenses are the 50mm /1.7, the Pentax 35mm,the Rokinon 14mm wide angle, and the Pentax 100mm macro. I also have a Pentax ME,and several legacy lenses. As I am disabled and cannot always get out and shoot like I used to,I am learning about macro photography, experimenting with found objects,or purchased objects. And my Pentaxes have seen me through a lot and I will always be faithful to them and their lenses.
Good to see you here!!

I have a Pentax K3 and an assortment of lenses. My favorite is the DA* 300mm F4. I also like the 20-40mm zoom and the 100mm 2.8 macro. I mostly use Canon these days because my interest is wildlife and I find Canon focusing is better than the Pentax K3. This is my first post so excuse any mistakes I have made.

My Super-Takumars...35mmf/2.. 55mm f/2... 85mmf/1.9...135mmf/2.4 ... 100mm Macro and 300mm f/6.3..,have all been given a new lease of life, by having a Sony camera body and adapter. Pleasure to use the lenses again, after a semi-retirement.

Hi, add me to the list. Been using Pentax SLRs since my first Super A back in the 80s. Now use K5 and K1II with an assortment of lenses. Probably the best Pentax lens I have had (apart from the original 50mm f1.7) is the new 100mm f2.8 macro. Stunning optics.

A Spotmatic was my first advanced camera, bought for landscapes in the 1960s. I now have a K-1 and 8 lenses, still mainly for landscapes.

If you haven't been there Pentax Forums has a huge amount of useful info.

Hi. I'm mostly a lurker but rarely see posts about pentax mostly canikon. I have a K3, K70, K30 and Ks2 with a few lenses. I've never used another brand of dslr but pentax works for me. I'm a total amateur.

I use the Pentax K5, K3, and K01. My Pentax lenses include: 26-45mm, 40mm Ltd, 35mm, 50mm, 55-300, 70mm Ltd, 100mm macro, and 18-135mm. I use them all, depending on the situation and need. Two comments:
1) Ricoh either refuses or is inept in its promotional and marketing abilities, and
2) Pentax cameras and lenses hold their own in quality to Canon or Nikon in all respects except for number of models.

Enjoyed my early Pentaxes, but went to Nikon. Back then, I needed a reasonably priced camera with a multi-exposure lever on it. Pentax, Minolta, and Canon did not have one, but the FM did, so I went with Nikon and haven't looked back.

I tried all the brands originally when I was choosing my first SLR. They all did the same thing, but the Super A "felt" best in my hands. I was most comfortable using it, the ergonomics were great in comparison with the others. It's still the same. I've tried Nikon, Canon, Leica, Sony etc They all do the same thing still, but the Pentax still "feels" best to hold.

I discovered Pentax this year when I bought a used KS-2, what great cameras! I’ve added a K5.
I’ve been on the fence about getting rid of my nikons (D700,300s) I like them so much. It’s the glass that concerns me along with the auto-focus. I read about a lot of SDM failures, currently using the 18-55 kit lens and the 55-300. I have considered trading in my nikons for better Pentax glass but have held off due to reliability and...well I still love my nikons

I've been a Pentax user since the 70s starting with the Spotmatic. Currently use the K-5iis, after the K100D an K-x. Current lenses include the 50 1.8, 55-300, 35 2.4, and 18-135. In addition, live the K mount Tamron 17-50 and Sigma 50 2.8 macro. As suggested, look at pentaxforums.com as well as the Pentaxians Facebook group. You'll find a large and welcoming family.
