Apparently not that obvious, given the disdain held for people who own expensive gear but only use 1% of its capability.

All too easy to forget that it is the people who over-purchase that allows the entire hobby to exist.

Joe "Camera" Six Pack is however the the major buyer and that was my point.

Your average purchaser of a camera, who is what you apparently meant by Joe "Camera" Six-pack is not, and never has been, the intended audience for a high end camera like this.

No debate about that. High end anything isn't aimed at the masses yet they are the ones who pay the bills. The top of the line's bells and whistles are what the masses hope will find its way down to them eventually.

Actually, when it comes to cameras, the "masses" whoever they are, generally don't know about the bells and whistles, probably would understand what they are and hwe to use them, and probably won't lust after them. Whenever I'm out and about the majority of DSLR and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras I see are being used in full auto.

That seems to be an assumption on your part. Which I will not debate.

Much of what we say are all assumptions based on our experience. Will the sun rise tomorrow? Based on my experience, I assume it will. But at some pint in the future it may not.
