Chris,
I have been watching this thread for a while now. Please pick the ONE photo that you feel is your best shot taken this year. Don't post several, I didn't; I want to see what you choose as your best ... I did.

Well, let's see, Howard … I dusted that Lion's Head for cobwebs, with a branch. Then, I shot it, with THREE different cameras .. must have spent a good hour at that site - making sure I did the best job possible. Ok?

Scotty - I've had that camera for more than 40 years - bought, brand new. I have literally - thousands of images shot with it - but they're all film (Naturally!) and - have not yet figured out a good way to digitize.

That camera shows absolutely no wear. It may be old but the original owner does appears to have hardly used it at all.

Anyone can get a Caluet 4X5 CC400 from KEH for about $160 or less. You can probably pick one up cheaper at a garage sale.

Ever heard of a flatbed scanner? You can get a new V600 from Adorama for about $160. It will scan up to 8.5x11.7" @ 6400x9600 dpi (I recommend 2400 or 3200 dpi).

Nobody is going to believe you until you present some evidence.

You spent an hour shooting it and that was the best you could do?

Too bad you dusted it. The cobwebs might have made it more interesting.

OK. So from now on everyone can ignore your post titles and post whatever they want. After all, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Exactly! Chris hijacked his own thread and threw it open to any images that don't meet his original criteria.

Since that's the case, how about three of the fourteen images I took this morning over the span of about 8 minutes while my wife was getting her nails done.

Scotty, you have to use 3 or 4 cameras for this to be applicable work :)

Sorry.

I guess I didn’t look appropriately goofy using only one camera and a single prime lens.

I didn’t spend any time dusting off the subject either.

Not at all. Within the opening post the criteria was an image that "YOU" the poster considered their best in 2019.

Within this thread there are many excellent images where it's obvious to the viewer why the poster was so pleased with their result. It was obvious because of the viewers appreciation of skill required, subject chosen or a combination of both.

What we must not overlook is that for some, producing an image that is simply exposed reasonably well or sharp is an achievement to them. This may well be the criteria ChrisT used when selecting a house number on a brick wall to show

You left out the rest of his opening statement, "You know - the one you are so very delighted with - you are considering blowing it up to plaster a wall with it … any takers??"

Chris then proceeded to make excuses why he could not rise to his own challenge until page 9 when he finally managed to squeeze in a single image which, by his own admission, did not meet any of the criteria in his original post. He said, "others will follow", but they have not. He eventually said that he spent an hour on it using three different cameras.

Later he said, "I actually posted my best picture so far of 2019 to start us off, but, It didn't take ..." This is clearly not true since all he would need to do would be to re-post it. He never has.

It doesn't look like he is going to rescue his credibility. To do that he has to post that "best picture so far of 2019". Do you think that is ever going happen? Don't hold your breath.

Except that Chris said it wasn't his best. He just posted something he shot today. He couldn't be bothered looking for a better one because he has them on four computers. He said he was going to post a few more from today.

OK; almost, I didn't need the story about 3 cameras, cobwebs, and a branch. I'm sure that the story behind my shot would be more interesting and "The story behind the Photo" is not what was asked for. Thank you for showing us your best shot of this year.
