My bro, 4 years younger than me at a spry 66 likes his camera and telescopes.

Got this photo and asked and it was a series of 1 minute exposures over 60 minutes and then stacked.

Amazing what you can take a picture of in a dark sky.

Beautiful!
I'd guess that this was taken from a tracking telescope so all the stars (points of light) remained aligned.

Yes, he has tracking telescopes. He gave me his older 8inch one with the gps guided tracker also.

But now I can't use it with my bridge camera. Guess I'll just gaze.

wow beautiful shot. Amazing milk colour in the centre of that Galaxy. Wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to visit just a handful of those little dots close to the centre?

Each of those dots is a star - each star can have planets around it. WOW

I would love to be able to see those little stars when looking at a night sky. I grew up in WV. The stars seemed brighter then or was I just a child?

Probably less light pollution. My brother has a program that lists areas near him with very little lights.

Ohh I know that milkiness is millions if not billions of stars etc. out there Sarge. It frustrates me to think how much is out there and we will NEVER ever be able to see even one of those stars or planets, during our mere life time existence on earth.

Nice image of a VERY small part of the night skies - Makes you wonder how some 'numpties' still believe we are alone.
