Great shot! I have visited Portage Glacier several times and it has always been beautiful. The first time was around 1986. The glacier at that time extended all the way out to within a few yards of the visitors center. You could walk out and almost touch it. I went back a few years later and it had receded back a few hundred yards. They had a boat that would take you back to see the glacier up close. Have not been in over 20 years so not sure how much further back it has receded.
I would put this on my wall and look at it a lot.........what a stunning image it really is.
Thanks so much for your kind words Blair.
A pretty nice picture of the fjord - but you didn't capture the glacier which has receded much farther in. Did you take a boat theehmann to see it?
That’s one of the nicest photos of Portage Lake I’ve seen. Looks like it was taken from the beach in front of the visitors’ parking lot next to the visitor center there. The glacier, which was still visible in 1974 is no longer visible and would be off to the right in the photo. You have to take a boat to see the glacier. It’s still a beautiful place, all year long. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Thanks so much for your kind words. You nailed the location exactly!! Thanks again.

Looks like you really nailed it, because the lake is rarely that calm. You got nice reflections.
