You are confused. I meant what I said. Your first sentence is just the opposite of what I said, and opposite your second sentence.

Not confused, at all, Nadelewitz - but, I think YOU were, when you wrote -

"1903 does not remove programs which are not components of Windows itself. It DOES remove some features of Windows that MS decided to do away with."

Look back - if you don't believe me …

I am pretty sure - that's NOT what you meant!

I don't get it. What don't you understand about my two sentences?
1903 DOES remove COMPONENTS of Windows 10 that MS decides to retire.
1903 DOES NOT remove NON-Microsoft applications.
Is that clear to you now?

Your re-telling, NOW - makes a lotta sense, Nadelewitz … but what you wrote before - did NOT!

Look at it, again ....

MS Photos - IS an integral component of the Win 10 OS - is it not?

BTW, Nadelewitz … if Win10 does NOT remove NON-MS applications, then HOW do you account for THIS:

Because you selected reset, intentionally or not. That is different than update.

This explains it. Google is your friend.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026528/windows-10-reset-or-reinstall

Resetting reinstalls Windows 10, but lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows. You can reset your PC from Settings, the sign-in screen, or by using a recovery drive or installation media.

I didn't change what I said. I just put the sentences on separate lines. You need to read and comprehend.

How many times do you have to read that "Photos" IS a part of Windows 10 before you believe it?

I've had enough of you. Goodbye.

This is referring to a different kind of Reset, Bill … the one I did never asked me whether I wanted to keep certain applications, or give them up. The problem I had in May - was that something??? wiped out all my Bookmarks, and after many fruitless attempts to recover them, when I looked for help - the help screen advised I do a Reset - just to recover my Bookmarks. There was NO Dialogue Screen asking which apps I wanted to keep. I assume - Windows made the decision to remove all those to try and get at the source of the problem which was keeping me from recovering all my bookmarks.

I KNOW MS Photos is a part of Windows 10.

This element has nothing to do with your writing that line backwards, Nadelewitz …

Hey! … At LEAST - I don't screw up your name - now, do I?

Bill - had what I did - been a complete Reset - don't you think it would've put a full working copy of MS Photos - back INTO the system?

No, not necessarily. MS Photos is now a free app in the Microsoft App Store.

See if you can find Picasa download. No longer supported by Google but excellent non-destructive editor. Astronaut Scott Kelly’s book “infinite Wonder” - photos of a year in space at the space station was prepared with Picasa (according to the forward).

It is all I use. Email, Post, Print from it.

Oh, I'm pretty sure MS would've seen to it, anything missing - which is an integral part of the OS - would've been replaced with a Complete Reset, Bill. … Didn't know you could get it from the MS Store. Not sure how to get there, though - doesn't seem to want to GO there, with MY particular system …

Thanks for the advice, FE … am exploring that avenue, as we speak. Most of the sites which list it - are dropping out, after you click on them. Will keep at it, though. Seems to be a lot of 3rd party places, which are offering the Free Download … thanks a bunch!

Click the Windows button once and type App. The Microsoft Store should be at or near the top of the list.

BTW - did you try clicking the Windows button once and typing Photos?

Bill - I know where the MS Store IS - the trouble is - getting TO it - on Dial-Up - doesn't work!

Yes, Bill - I tried all the avenues. Before I changed the default Photo App to Paint - nothing happened when I clicked on a Photo File on the Desktop … this is the error I get - "The App didn't Start"
