Absolutely. Gun free zone is a magnet for crazies. How could you hope for a better situation if you were a crazy than lots of people, none of them able to shoot back.

Exactly. We just had the most recent mass shooting in the US about a mile from my house in Virginia Beach. Another gun free zone with employees sitting ducks. The city is now exploring options to allow city employees to arm themselves at work.

I spent 7 years in the Marine Corp, 60-67. The last thing I would want is to be is in the middle of a bunch of people with no fire discipline. How can you tell the good guys from the bad guys??
The "good" guys would more than likely contribute to more dead and dying.

The bad guy would be the guy shooting people. The good guy would be me shooting the bad guy. 20+ years in the Navy. Regularly trained in the use of fire arms. If I was in a no gun zone, chances are I would be the only one armed except for the bad guy. And probably a heck of a lot better shot than the bad guy. As soon as the threat was neutralized and or the cops showed up my fire arm would disappear.

Trying to be sensible myself, I'd agree.

I don't know how many firefights you were involved in. It's not that easy. You are unloading on the bad guy another good guy doesn't know you or the bad guy. All he sees is two guys with guns. All he is going to do is start to unloading. Now multiply that fiasco by what put a number on it. Then start your body count. It's a little than being in country.

"little than being in country."
It should have read a little like being in country.

So, you're saying you would rather sit on your hands and hope the crazy stops shooting before he gets to you rather than having the means to defend yourself and maybe some innocent civilians?

Maybe it would be better if the crazy guy didn't have a gun, then we could leave security to those who are trained to handle it rather than some cowboys who want to try to prove their manhood.

Do you have a problem understanding what I said? Use your vast level of experience and have at it.

When I went to Honduras about 4 or 5 yrs ago for a mission trip, I went to a fast food joint that had a locker in the lobby where you could put your sidearms while you're eating.
