I did photography of dogs for a living, for about a year period of course that was eons ago, I think during Matthew Grady's time. Most of what we were doing was for show dogs, and we treated it the same as we did virtually any other portrait setting. Nice back light, nice background, strong sidelight and a fill light from the other side. I sold an incredible amount of photos during that period of time.

Sometimes that fleeting expression that is priceless in telling an animal story in human terms. "MOTHERHOOD"
Thank you everyone for all of your advice and comments. I very much appreciate everyone’s time to help me.
My purebred Border Collie,Chief, is extremely athletic and loves doing agility, swimming, frisbee, cashing squirrels, etc.
I would love to capture a photograph of him in the air while he’s catching his frisbee!( Also other action creative action photos if any one has any ideas. )
What are the best settings for me to use to capture him mid-air?
Also, what suggestions on where to position myself from the sun?
I have a tripod I can use.
Any advice for me to advance my photography techniques are extremely appreciated. Thank you!
