I did some poking around within the Gehry architecture firms website. It would not surprise me that you might find some of the drawings associated with the project. I did think some about the list of parts the steel company had to contend with. And the work involved in assembling that list.

Yes Dean, thats a pretty fair analogy when you see it from certain angles. I walked around for quite a while trying to find a view that was complementary to it as a sculptural form, and came to the conclusion that there were not many. From the front it looked to me as if it had suffered a front end collision. One of the more interesting things about the building is the ever changing surface reflections of the sky, that can only be experienced to be appreciated. I was thankful that the sky was full of clouds. I was metering off the sky and as you see, the skin had much brighter highlights.

Sorry Frank Gehry, the view from a distance of your project looks okay, (ignoring the complicated inside bracing) but the detail looks like a wrecked airplane.

That's a lot of metal and a lot of work assembling it I would guess.....wonder what it cost to build.

I didn't intend this post to turn into a trial and conviction of Mr. Gehry for architecture misdemeanors. I can tell you, that as an architecture student contemplating employment, landing a job with his firm would have been a remarkable achievement. His aim was to show how buildings need not be forever squares and rectangles, and this inspiration of his, was a significant contribution to future of architecture. Some of his first steps may have been clumsy, but lets give him credit for being a visionary with an imagination.
