This Groundhog decided to take some time off by our barn.
Groundhog, Woodchuck or Whistlepig by any other name
is still a stand up Marmot. There are 15 different types of them.

Nice photo. Once upon a time they were about 50% of the meat on our family's table when we lived in Missouri.

Back in the late 30s and early 40s my uncles would pop of one every so often and my grandmother would fix it for Sunday dinner. It was a change from the usual stewed chicken.

My brother and I grew up in NYS where woodchucks were abundant, too abundant in fact. We put many on our table as well. They taste great.
