Maybe not a snob as much as uninformed. There are platforms dedicated to cell phone pictures. Instagram and Snapchat are the two most popular. They are designed for you to post directly from your phone. While it is possible to post using images taken with a camera it is much easier using a cell phone. Snapchat has a value of $3 Billion and Instagram has a value of $100 Billion. That is not a typo that is a capital B. So I would say there is a heck of a lot of photography going on on both sites. For those of you who have said people are just snapping those pictures and not doing anything with them you would be very wrong. There are people getting very rich posting to those sites. I would venture to say richer than even the best stock photographers posting to stock sites. We need to accept cellphone images are art also. We can poo poo cell phone photography all we want but the truth is it is huge.

Something just occurred to me, and maybe I'm slow on the uptake here, but there's been and likely will be, a lot of talk regarding cellphone cameras vs. dedicated cameras, with a lot of negativity voiced toward the cellphone cameras. Not everyone is an artist, and many don't aspire to be an artists, but they do like to take pictures and share them. Others are or would like to become artists and have a love for taking and displaying beautiful artful photographs for the benefit of not only themselves, but other. But the thing that came to me, on the side of the cellphone photographers/snapshooters, etc, is that in posting their images on social media or sharing them with friends and families, they are simply sharing life. And there it is, plain and simple. Sharing life in its various aspects with others, and they enjoy this communication. And the cellphone camera makes this easy. It brings joy in sharing life with others in this way. At the end of the day, the two different kinds of camera really can't be compared, and shouldn't be. Their intended uses are entirely different, and probably should stay that way.

Your words could not be more spot on! Thank you for saying that. Photography is nothing more than capturing and preserving moments. If we are passionate about our art form than we should be elated that others are discovering and enjoying it too and if it is because of the cell phone we should applaud it not discourage it. The point is this as you have so eloquently stated if cell phones get people sharing moments it is awesome!

I see that a lot and wonder if they will even look at the pictures again later. If so, they will just swipe their finger across the screen when reviewing photos and see it for a fraction of a second.

Sometimes a photo makes news/history and if a $25 kids digital camera is what's available go for it. Also, another subject, If it's "free" then why do you need my credit card number???

Cell phones fill several niches today, one being the niche the Instamatic fit into at one time.

Are you equating a kid's $25 digital camera with a camera from one of the better cell phones?

You are not snobbish. Most people are too lazy to properly compose a photograph or dial in the correct ISO. Most people don't have a clue about f/stops or shutter speeds. Heck, most people don't know how to read a Mercury thermometer.
Having a cellphone makes taking a "photograph" easier. The worst part about it is that the tiny lens is made of plastic which will scratch.
You are not a snob;you are cognizant of the whole photographic process.
