Most of our GPs are minions of the Insurance Corps. Same thing.
I've been wheeled out of the hospital on a gurney, then wheeled back in as a "new" admission.

You say that BS as if you want us to believe the doctors are in on the minion scheme. Most doctors seem to hate the insurance companies and the way the doctors are paid, sometimes not paid or not paid in a timely manner. The real culprits here are the Federal government and the insurance companies, not the doctors.

Every time I've been in a hospital, I get to see ghosts. Invisible doctors.
There's a sign in clipboard by the door- to keep the nurses honest, they need to sign in with the time. Doctors sign in, also. There's always 1 or 2 you never see. Or maybe just the back of one.
Just had another one. He comes, signs in- "EverybodyOK?Fine" and leaves. That's another $95 per patient. 2 or 3 of us in that room. There's a lot of rooms. This is what he does for lunchtime. Weekends are easier- he calls the nurses station, asks for patient status- and as long as he asks by name, it's legal.

As far as supplies costs, the hospital is doing itself a little CYA accounting. Sometimes patients don't have insurance, or enough insurance; sometimes supplies don't get logged out; sometimes insurance is "examining" why more was used here than there. So the hospital basically adds up cost plus overhead, and divides the costs among it's paying customers.

The ones here use matrix management. 30 billing means after that it's either late or a loss. If/when the
Insurance Corps pays the bill (my ambulance took 6 months!) if that payment isnot directly specified to be applied to my charge, it goes into another account. That is how hospitals can claim they're going broke; and why health care costs rise; yet the hospitals still make millions in profit.

Harry are you a doctor? You sure seem to have knowledge of a lot that goes on in a hospital for a number of patients and rooms. I have been in hospitals myself from time to time. I have never seen what you describe. Doctors are not necessarily supposed to be in a patients room 24/7. I don't know but I suspect maybe once or twice a day for an official visit. I don't know if there is any real protocol for doctor visits. I would think it would depend upon the patient and why he is in the hospital. Perhaps some of the real doctors here in The Attic can give us some insight as to what, in their experience, goes on in a hospital. Your description, trying to make it all sound illegal or not quite right might very well be your Left Wing agenda coming out.

As for hospitals going broke I think if you check accurately you will find that SOME hospitals on our Southern border have closed because of the number of illegal aliens they treat for all kinds of diseases but mostly to deliver illegal alien children as these illegals take advantage of our legal system.

Here's an oldie that sums it up.

There's nothing worse than a snotty doctor's receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong in a room full of other patients.
I know you all have experienced this, and here's the way one old guy handled it.

A hard of hearing 86 year old man walked into a crowded doctor's office. As he approached the desk, the receptionist said,
"Yes sir, what are you seeing the doctor for today?"

"There's something wrong with my penis," he replied, rather loudly.

The receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a crowded office and say things like that."

"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.

The receptionist replied, "You've obviously caused some embarrassment in this room full of people.
You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something.
Then discussed the problem further with the doctor in private."

The man walked out, waited several minutes and then reentered. The receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes?"

"There's something wrong with my ear," he stated.

The receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.
"And what seems to be wrong with your ear, Sir?"

"I can't piss out of it!!"

Sorry, my mistake. Since your location shows "So California/Colorado/Idaho" I thought you might migrate between those states during the year. Some UHH members will list their location as "Florida/New York" or something similar because they spend the winters in Florida and the summers in New York for some reason.

No apology necessary. You are absolutely correct in that I move from CA to Idaho, my home now, to Colorado and also Wyoming depending upon the hunting/fishing seasons in those states. You will also find me in Pittsburgh, sometimes in Arizona. I am retired and go where I want, when I want.

The reason people list Florida/New York is of course because they are snowbirds and want to live in a nice climate year round. I grew up in Western NYS and have lived in AK, CT, WA, CO and other freezing cold snowy states. Snow and cold is not a problem for me so you may find me in upstate NY hunting deer in December occasionally.

My point was only that I pay nothing to the state of California.

Have a wonderful day,

Dennis

The quintessential problem is the insertion of insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Aetna, etc.) between the patient and doctor. We've allowed that buffer as an accommodation, but it causes real problems in the relationship, not necessarily between the MD and patient, but the generic "medical profession".

Until HMO concept became a reality (Thanks a bunch, Ted Kennedy), the focus was on seeing the patient; settle the tab later. However, insurance companies in their drive to push down costs, want everything sorted, categorized, standardized, and itemized. Your vague complaint of malaise now has to be precisely reported, else the doctor doesn't get paid. Granted, this has come about because of scams, etc., but where do you draw the line?

I don't have an answer. Wish I did!

Guten tag, Herr Polizei! I see your glorious battle against the American people continues!
Did.you.have.problems.with.the.big.words?
Should I respond to you before or after your caretaker medicates you?

There was never any real disparagement to the doctors in my statement. They are employees- minions- of the insurance companies. We need to understand and accept this. They cannot do anything not acceptable to the insurance company and expect to get paid for the visit. Too many times, the squeaky wheel gets replaced.
BECAUSE OF THE INSURANCE CORPS regulations, in order to legally process me for a separate procedure and be covered by my insurance, I needed to be checked out, exited, then readmitted.

Yes, I know, you just can't help it. An American citizen disagrees with anything of the system- he must be a Lefty Hillary supporter. Probably may have stashed some of her emails to hide them from your Lord and Savior Trumplestiltskin. Torches and pitchforks on standby.

Harry I honestly don't see much difference from your post to mine. Both seem to state that doctors are not happy with insurance companies.

Yet you feel the need to carry on your Liberal BS insults about calling me a policeman in German, saying I hate the government and so on, all insults to me. WTF is that all about? Do you honestly agree with all of the BS that insurance companies insist in implementing in the health care service these days? You apparently, by your comments, do not like ANYTHING in the government that is now run by the Trump administration yet you make fun of me and others because we did not like things in the Obama run government.

I am NOT against the American people. I am for the American people and against the government when it forces its programs on the American people. You should be against such actions yourself and would be if you weren't a Liberal. But you love big government and enjoy it running your life. I am a human being and want to make my own decisions without government interference. THAT my friend is not being anti American but is more being for Americans keeping their rights.
