"No longer supporting" does not mean it will stop working. It means that there will no longer be various updates and security updates. How serious this is depends on how much danger you imagine you are in. Nothing more.
Computer experts say you use "unsupported" software at your own risk. You've ALWAYS used software at your own risk. Your web activity, downloading from unknown sources, handling of email attachments etc. determine your risk.
Too bad you missed the boat on a free upgrade to Windows 10 from Microsoft. I went from 7 to 10 this way on multiple computers I own. If you have a spare hard drive, put it in the computer and install Win 10 (same version...Home or Professional) on it and see if your 7 license key works to activate 10. Find someone with the installation media. A knowledgeable user can even make you an installation disc or flash drive.
You CAN even use 10 indefinitely without activating it. Some features won't work, most notably Personalization settings, but you can get used to it before buying it. I think 10 is a fine operating system. Just disable Cortana as much as possible, and change all the default Privacy settings to keep MS and programs from snooping, and it's a very nice nice operating system. Don't be afraid of it.
"No longer supporting" does not mean it ... (

I should add to my own post that I do still have two Windows 7 machines also. One that isn't up to Win 10 requirements, other one to keep my hand in 7.
