What Liberalism has done to our soceity...

Subject: Re: HIGH SCHOOL 1957 vs. 2017 ! ! ! !
By today's standards none of us were supposed to ever make it.

HIGH-SCHOOL
1957 vs. 2017

Scenario 1:

Jack goes duck hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2017- School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:

Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2017 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled - even though Johnny started it.

Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2017 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2017 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being spanked herself, and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.
2014 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:

Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2017 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2017 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The, FBI investigates his parents - and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957–In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2017- Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

In a mere 60 years we have lost sight of practical common sense solutions that have worked in the past for all of us.

I can promise you that children diagnosed with ADD are NOT eligible for SSI disability or any other type of monetary compensation. If you think ADD can be cured by paddling, or that all ADD drugs, properly prescribed and administered produce zombies, then you don’t know what the hell you’re taliking about. In fact, as the parent of two ADD genetically afflicted boys, both properly diagnosed and treated (and tutored/assisted, not paddled), one of which has a masters degree and is an acclaimed teacher and the other a fire chief, I will break my long-standing rule against ad-hominem attacks, and call you what you are - a stupid, ignorant reprobate. You have insulted every parent and child who has agonized and struggled with this disability, and you owe them all an apology.

Variation of numbers one and three:
1998 - My boy and a couple of his buds, playing with a new pellet gun, target practice on some tomatoes in my garden. Accidentally shoot out a window in my car.
2019 - All get investigated for conspiracy to commit gang violence, probation for ten years, and no chance to ever get ahead because of ATF violations. (Oh, and one is now a school principal, one a lead detective in a major city, and one runs a country club in a different major city. Too bad, because they're all "failures of the system".)
[I'm still p***ed off about the tomatoes!]

The sad thing is that 'mental problems' have become 'high profile' at the expense of 'physical disability'. Nearly every country has legislation designed to make buildings and workplaces 'accessible' for wheelchair users and those that cannot access stairs. BUT look around....New build houses flaunt the legislation as do most commercial buildings. Little or no protest is made. In an ageing population extremely little change has been provided despite decades of building law. Society now demands that people work...and pressure is put on physically disabled people to 'prove' their inability to compete in the job market.

However, having saved money by closing 'Mental Asylums' and cutting budgets for 'mental health care in the community' - The only places available are 'Charities' with massive management fees for providing little more than 'tea and sympathy'.
Add to this all of the 'anguish' that is now classed as a 'problem' and no wonder there are calls to politicians to 'do something'. Hence more taken out of the 'Social Funds'.Having a 'range' of mental difficulties is now classed as reason for not working.

If families cannot care for their children's teenage angst....what is the point of giving them more money - when 'help' is not available.

When mental health had a social stigma, fewer people accepted 'hospitalization'. Now there is apparently less stigma and more 'family money' available to claimants and their carers (often a family member) ...the symptoms of a 'mental problem' have become set at a low bar. What is the point of throwing money at a 'problem' when society has little resource to professional advice or practical help because this is no longer publicly available.

We cannot 'switch off' the social funding without a massive political backlash. We cannot cease to fund 'charities' without encouraging 'new' start up charities exploiting the charity status laws by showing local needs.

What we need is a social change that states a) none professionals can no longer diagnose 'mental health'....and state facilities will be the only access point for health services so that social funding is once again 'institutional' and publicly accountable..
In that way the genuine will get the help they need and society can be go back to accepting that 'not everything' is a sign of a someone having a 'specific' mental problem.

It makes no sense to continue to 'disable' young people on often seemingly minor social problems whilst at the same time we penalize the physically disabled for not working.

In today's society great emphasis is put on individuality - be that morally, dietary or personality. That is fine ....but society should not be held to account to subsidize individuals 'personal differences'.

As populations grow - perhaps like Japan, there becomes a point when a persons 'individuality' is catered for in the built environment and can be politely ignored in society.

I am amazed how many Ugly Hegehogs are so prickly and have no sense of humor.
The question is, were you born this way, ( there might be a new drug for this) or did you somewhere, somehow lose it.
It must be hard going through life so angry and humorless.

Good luck and God Bless.

The more they classify new syndromes or diseases, the more $ for the drug companies. Restless leg syndrome? Really?

It all started when they took the paddle and prayer out of the schools. There is no such thing as good common horse sense anymore. Parents can't control their kids because of insane liberal laws. Unfortunately most parents are immature grownup themselves. I say "immature", look at their dress, tattoos and listen to the language. Look at the hair styles and cell phone pacifiers. My dad was a police chief, no gray areas; either black or white and if i crossed the line, I caught 'what for'. Did he do it because he didn't love me?
Absolutely NOT; quite the contrary, but because he did. God must be so ashamed of us!

My son,who is a teacher was telling me of the difficulty in scheduling GCE exams for individuals with special requirements such as

a room with a particular colour, necessitating individual invigilation........what a waste of resources ?

In my day, pupils were streamed, with respect to ability, attitude and potential.

Now it seems that children who are known to be disruptive are, for PC reasons, placed in an ordinary classroom

where their behaviour disrupts the education of perhaps 30 other children with no advantage for anyone.

Similar problems with children who do not speak English well, the education of the many suffers for the political

correctness of pandering to the few. Is it any wonder that our children are performing so badly and the effect this has

on employment and our ability to compete globally?
