If the Df was a 1k camera, I bet they would sell a lot more (I would love one). So I think the price is only for nostalgic/niche reasons, it is great camera regardless of controls and looks.

The Df has the same pro build quality as any of the F or top digital models. The F3, which the Df closely resembles, sold for $1500. 20 years ago - I think the price is pretty reasonable.

Yeah 20 years ago $1500. I bought mine 36 years ago and it was $460. But I didn't hesitate to buy the Df when it came out.

I don't use video con my dSLR. However, I never felt that the video options over-complicated the camera. They are even on a separate menu in Nikon at least.
As I said before, I would love a Df, but for half its price :-D

Juan - Adorama has one used for a grand ... check it out, my friend ...

I believe you. It can be exhausting to defend oneself as to the nature and tone of what one writes. I can see how your previous post could be misconstrued, though. I’m not being rhetorical when I ponder here whether there exists some short "catch-all" phrase that one is simply being factual without any innuendo intended.

Isn't it interesting how, when a person chooses to take umbrage at the comments of another and admonishes them to simply, "walk on by," or "just change the channels," they are in the process of committing precisely the same faux pas, compounded with disrespect and other unwarranted inconsideration, just as I am now?

Perhaps a used one for half its new price.

Thanks, but I don't live in USA, and it is not the moment for a new body, yet.

I reckon he meant car, L ... personal passenger vehicle = car ... right?

But, if you expaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand on that a bit, I guess it could mean - limousine - right?

No, limos didn't count because they are custom built by outsourcing companies from OEM vehicles.
It applied to all categories of non-commercial vehicles. One company would make a vehicle an inch longer than the other companies counterpart. If I remember correctly, GM won most of the time. They don't do it any more but I believe the last competition was between vans made by GMC and Ford. The GMC van was slightly and I mean slightly longer than the similar Ford vehicle. I use to drive an extended Ford E series van. It had removable seats and it was used to move both cargo and people, depending on the circumstance. For a van, that sucker was big. The company CEO had a GMC van that was used to carry big shots and investors to events. The seats were never removed in that vehicle. It was big and nice. This was several years ago before smaller was better.

The Sony RX-1 comes close in size. Doesn't have the clamshell design. Has a great price though.

Don't need to know the price of one, I've got one already. I still occasionally use it. It was a brilliant design combining a really good lens, a well made body and decent if not perfect ergonomics. Had Sony no got their hands on Minolta, things could have go on to a better model with faster write speeds, better AF and perhaps a better VF, although it doesn't smear that much. And the menus aren't that bad.

Oh well.

Adorama (and B&H) will ship anywhere in the world, Juan ...

If the product is new, they might even forego shipping costs ... but might not for Used ones ....

It's just a deal that's worthy of consideration ... that camera (new) is about three grand!

And if I may, all this extra stuff may be a sign of creeping Americanization of the world consumer. I think all the extra stuff is like restaurant food here, most consumers think more is always better. Whoever that was that said "Less is More" is turning in his grave.

Been driving mini-vans for the last thirty years, R ... and they all have lots of seating ... can do 7-9 ...

The current one has Stow 'n' Go seating. This means, when you need room for cargo, you can tip them all over, into the floor - to give you a full cargo bed - behind the front seats. Should do a 4x8 easy! (flat!)

It works for some things, Bill ... clothes, for instance ...

The fancier restaurants give you less, yes ... but what they give you is pretty high quality food.

Compare that with the diners - who fill the plates to overflowing ... might give you a full belly sooner ...

But, a few hours after ... whose food will you have appreciated more?

I have a Nikon D200. Very nice stills camera, no video, no live view, though you can see shots on the lcd screen after they are taken. Can buy one for less than $200 on ebay. Not light weight though.

Same for D300. Also not lightweight, but very tough.
