Any 35mm full frame users considering the step to medium format? Aside from the lens impact and DoF issue, do you believe the larger sensor, and possibly pixel size (depending on the 50 or 100 mp sensor) will provide better IQ for landscape. Fugi and Hasse seem to be leading here. Do you think the Nikon Z is positioning for a medium format sensor. Is it technically possible. Would the Z9 go there?

I would rather get a newer car for the same price. Mine is 18 years old and close to 200,000 miles so a 2-3 year old dealer/brand certified used car is looking good to me.

If I want to do a billboard size landscape I can just do a vertical and horizontally stitched pano and maybe even focus stack each frame.
Done right a 3 x 6 or so stitched image with my Canon 5DIV should make a nice sharp super sized print.

I know one person who owns a Hasselblad and several of the lenses. He will tell you it is worth it in every way to get one.

Film medium format cameras were very good performers. Digital sensors have exceeded film however. Medium format digital cameras have at least two drawbacks - 1. They are very expensive and 2- autofocus is slow.

Matt Granger did a 17 minute video where he shot 2 models using 12 cameras including a Hasselblad.

If interested you can find it here:

Maybe for him, but not for everybody, not even most people.

Although Nikon made lenses for all different formats in the past up to 8x10 but they never made a camera larger than the 24x36mm format. So I don't think Nikon will go there.

I'm all done with larger formats.

Just shooting whatever I want now.

I can create a beautiful, sharp, crisp 20X30 image with my 12mp Nikon D3s. Why would anyone need anything more?

I am in full agreement with the gentleman that stated that he gets great images from his 12 Mp. camera. Both, the D3 and the D700 have been well known for their image quality.

John, given the chance, I'd jump at getting a medium format camera. Currently I shoot Hasselblad and one of two large format cameras. I prefer those to my digitals.

Oh, I'm also working on emulating a medium format camera using my digital and 4x5. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-593363-1.html

I seriously doubt that Nikon is thinking MF. First, they are a small company compared to others such as Sony, Fuji and Panasonic, which are much more diversified. And they have no lenses adaptable to the larger format.

I hear there are some good deals on 8x10 view cameras. Where does it end?

However, Nikon did have a SORT OF medium format back in the day. Bronica used Nikon lenses and that camera created quite pleasing results.
