I am about to totally abandon PSCS5, since I have a new iMac with High Sierra. I cannot print from PSCS5, for it shuts down immediately when I press Command-P (PRINT). So I cannot print from it. And yesterday, while abstracting an image, CS5 shut down unexpectedly. It is a driving reason why I'm now studying Affinity Photo. Is anyone else, who owns PSCS5, experiencing similar behavior on an iMac with High Sierra?

It’s not supported — Apple made it obsolete by changing the OS.

Dyximan, you've given a supportive argument to continue to update the OS. After all, they are free. However, nearly every time I upgrade the OS, I either lose a piece of software or hardware. Yes, software company usually offer an upgrade to match Apple's new OS, but hardware? I had to buy a new scanner, and had an excellent scanner 'all dressed up, and no place to go'. The new iMac, with High Sierra cost me a scanner and a Wacom tablet. The new Wacom? $375. Almost daily I receive a tab to yet, upgrade to an even newer OS. Why would I do that? What would it offer me, except to possibly lose something yet again.

In a word, the new OS is SECURE.

VueScan probably has a driver for your old scanner.

Completely reset the printing system and reinstall your printer driver software, using the latest download available from your printer manufacturer’s web site. (Most drivers are now provided via automatic updates from Apple’s App Store, but there may be exceptions. Use the printer configuration tool in System Preferences, if that’s the case.)

I have CS5 and two new PC computers (at least I think they're new). I haven't experienced any troubles except for a highly irritating exception. Even before I upgraded to the new PCs the Mini Bridge in CS5 completely went away with no explanation or warning from Adobe. I even had my geeks check it out and they could not resuscitate it. I can still use "Big Bridge" but wonder what else may drop away in the future. No doubt I will eventually have to move on the CC version everyone here talks about.

I have Photoshop CS4 on a MacBookPro running OS High Sierra and have encountered no printing problems. Would suggest you review Preferences for both CS5 and System/Printers. The entries are fairly intuitive, to me anyhow. Good luck.

Adding onto my post. Do you have CS5 on DVD disk and willing to sell. You would have to deauthorize your copy.

Apple/ Microsoft change the OS with every new release - often dropping support for hardware and software. The result is that applications and hardware stop working. The vendors give out a list of changes and how to recode applications for the new system. So A software vendor has to rewrite software at their cost. Would you pay for such an update - particularly when the cost is nearly the amount for an upgrade?
