Best wishes!!! I had surgery for a partial ruptured Achilles tendon in late April of last year. Crutches of a walker for three weeks, then a hard cast and a scooter for three more. Pay close attention to rehab. At 75, then, I found it was slow to build up muscles in my calf. I have been working on it since then and finally feel up to my annual Glacier trip and the associated back country hiking. I will do some hiking in Grand Teton and here in Idaho, to test my recovery.

Don't get discouraged. You will heal and have good stuff to entertain you during recovery. I took the time to acquire and learn Luminar. I am sure you will find interesting things to do.
Best wishes!!! I had surgery for a partial rupture... (show quote)

Thank you, Adam. I do appreciate it. Did you ever find any bears to take photos of?

Buck up, Chief, you may be down but you're certainly not out, work your other projects and learn some new photography techniques so you'll be even better and bolder when you're cleared for duty!

Thanks. I'll give the "Bucking up" a try.

To every one who has responded with best wishes and encouragement, I thank you all very much. I didn't expect such a big response. I do appreciate it! I can't respond to all of you individually but please don't think that means I'm not appreciative.

Chief, may you have fair winds and a following sea after the surgery, during recovery and beyond.

Hope your recovery goes well. My brother had that surgery and has never been the same. Could have been his fault, though. Like me, he doesn't follow instructions too well.

Here's wishing you the best recovery possible. Sorry you'll be missing the Alaska trip this year. Follow the doc's orders as well as your PT, and have a good time with your project. Get well, and we'll see ya up next year, Chief. Thanks for your service, by the way. Happy Memorial Day.

Thanks very much, Chief Rob. I just did a search of your posts. Very interesting. I think we share many of the same sentiments, political and otherwise..

Ken, thank you but that doesn't sound very encouraging My doctor said we could be more conservative with treatment but I would never walk normally again. I chose the blood and gore route, I hope I don't live to regret it.

Thank you, Wingpilot. For the good wishes and the Thank you. It's becoming more common all the time.

Not yet! That is a big goal of mine and I hope to achieve it this summer or, maybe next. I hope you are back out there soon. Don't rush it and don't fail to be diligent about rehab. I almost forgot about the boot - a fiendish device if there ever was one. But, it can be your best friend, also.

Conservative treatment would not alleviate the problem and, as you said, the after effects would include very limited mobility and a lot of discomfort.

I hope your recovery will be fast and painless.
Just an FYI: such cases are reported and a
known side effect caused by the use of Ciprofloxacin,
Levofloxacin and other Fluoroquinolones.
Be Well.

Thanks you and thanks for the info. I haven't used any of those.

From one Chief to another, I wish you a speedy and complete recovery. You chose a good project to undertake while you are mending. The Goat Locker is a tight community and we are all pulling for you.
