Thank you for the suggestions. When I said mask I was thinking selection. I use Affinity and am working g through the Affinity Workbook. It has really reinforced ways of making localized adjustment as easily as possible but your suggestions are very clear and should be helpful. I did this with a mouse. I have considered getting a tablet but never could makeup my mind. I have a cat that lays on the desk when I work. He likes to lick my mouse hand! Now that makes things difficult!

I really only know Lightroom and Photoshop, and learn something new every day. If Affinity has anything like refine edge it would be worth exploring, and masks give added latitude of opacity and blending options. I wonder about a tablet also, don't have one but the videos make it look easy.

I have never used Photoshop but I think Affinity has many similarities. Affinity has an excellent refine tool for selections and I am slowly getting the hang of it.

Thanks for sharing your adventure with focus stacking Carol. You did a great job. I too like color when working with flowers. IMO they're soft and delicate which just calls for various shades of color, not the more harsh graphics of B/W. Would you share the number of shots in your focus stack....I've been playing around with it too, but with a bouquet of flowers. It's rather bewildering the number of shots I'm having to take. After seeing yours, think I'll take out a single flower and work with it........Thanks. Bev

All are fine images, but #4 - the hand painted one- really stands out for me! Soft, subtle and nicely contrasted. Nice PP work there!

Thanks for sharing your adventure with focus stack... (show quote)

Bev, I think I had about 30 shots in this stack and it may have been more than necessary for this fairly flat flower. I have used 60 or so on some flowers with more depth. I like to take 2 or 3 flowers that look nice together to make a mini arrangement. Simple is better for stacking. I use Zerene as my stacking software.

I like doing stacking so let me know if I can be of any help.

Thank you, Tommy. I'm not sure what possessed me to do #4 but I'm glad I tried it.

Thanks Carol. I've been using Photoshop, but if I continue with the focus stacking, Zerene or Helicon may be in my future. I'm going to try single or small groupings instead of a full bouquet until I get it down better. Bev

Good idea, Bev. One good thing about Zerene is the tools for cleaning up once the stack is done.
