I've been working on pp a lot lately and used this one flower shot to play with. It can be a lot of fun to just experiment and see where it takes you.
This started out as a stacked shot and the colors in #1 shot are pretty accurate. As you can see, #2 is just a black and white conversion of the original. For number 3 I added a texture to #1 and masked it off the flower to create a new background. Then I added a vignette in a color selected from the photo. Finally, for number 4, I took the B & W version and hand brushed color back onto it. I changed the opacity as I painted to provide some variation in the appearance of the petals.
All of this was just for fun and a little learning.

Converted to B&W in Affinity - I'm not too fond of B&W flowers.

Background texture added and a color coordinated vignette.

Great set, Carol! You are getting that artistic thing down.
Not a bit of foolishness here, Carol, just a whole lot of beautiful results!
They are all good, but I especially like the hand-painted flower - nicely done!

Thank you, Mike. To me, nice, sharp, realistic photos are art but sometimes I do enjoy playing!

Thank you, Donna! I'm gradually getting better at pp in general.

Thank you, Irene. This is the first time I tried to do this and I rather like it too. It wasn't hard but and AI can see potential for future uses.

What they all said already!
Beautiful job Carol. Sometimes we can overwork an image in playful PP and I am guilty of that on occasion but I like the light hand you used in processing these. I think each version has enhanced a different aspect of the flower. Very nice!
Really nicely done - simple but elegant. I appreciate that you included a bit of stem; seems more appealing IMO than floating
Were these all edited using Affinity?

Thank you, Keni. I may tend to be overly conservative, but I'm working on it.

Thank you, Linda. I like the stem too. The first shot I did, the stem was covered with a plastic sheath to hold the flower upright. It looked hokey so I cloned it out. For this shot I was careful to get it down enough so it looked natural.
These were all done with Affinity. I've been working through the Affinity Workbook and it has opened doors for me in processing. I also used the new Topaz AI app for sharpening.
Very nice. I bet the mask made it easier to color within the lines.
Really nice pp work, Carol. Keep it going.
