Recently, I put a post out there, asking for suggestions for alternate names for APS-Cameras. Nothing came up from that post. So, after much deliberation - I came up with - DXI - for all-INCLUSIVE DX type cameras. The extensive use of "Crop" has gotten to me, as it refers to just too many things. Also, there is a tendency, on the part of many FF users, to denigrate "Crop" users - by calling them "Crap" … PLUS - it appears - the term APS-C - is totally inaccurate, as it refers to a Film Camera designation of the early 90s. So, DXI - it is!
Recently, I put a post out there, asking for sugge... (show quote)

You came up with DXI? Who are you?

CAM - I had no problems with the APS-C designation, until a short time ago - when someone in another thread - reminded me APS-C isn't valid anyway, as it refers to a film type. This, coupled with my own repugnancy over the abuse of the term CROP - paralleling it to CRAP - made me decide it was time to seek an alternate name or acronym … and, since everyone is comfortable with DX - I figured the extension would embrace ALL APS-C users - AND would be easier to WRITE and - REMEMBER, too …

I hear you but it makes no sense to me. APS-C is valid because that's what it's called, even if something in the past had that name. (Don t recall that myself.) Do you have trouble remembering APS-C? I don't.

A concerned user at UHH - who believes the time has come - for us to stop hurling abuse at each other - particularly - the FF fans - who ridicule APS-C users - by calling their CROP cameras - CRAP!!!!

It makes PERFECT SENSE to me, Cam - as so many of us are already familiar with the term - DX - so adding one more character - to embrace ALL APS-C designs - seems to be the BEST answer.

There are a lotta folks on here, Cam - who have trouble remembering APS-C (a former film designation, used in the late 80s and early 90s. There was another one, too - just called APS.) Many of them tend to drop the hyphen and the "C" - as they can't remember the whole term. So, this would be a BOON for them!

Bebu - sorry, Chum … and you told me you'd actually BEEN to England - didn't you?

WHY was not used as a question, here … it's used in English vernacular - as an expression - like - GOSH!

Good Gosh, almighty, Bebu - you didn't know that, huh? … By Golly, Mate!!!!!!

1-Just because because you believe the phraseology should be changed doesn't give you the right to unilaterally change it or demand that it be changed.

2-Your thread title proclaims a "winner" even though there was no vote.

3-You still have not shown any proof to back up your claim that APS-C users are being belittled or that crop sensor cameras are being called crap.

Well MAC.
Chris post the contest. Entered it himself to be the only entry. Voted on it himself. Declared himself as the winner. So clever huh?
