Extending a Pentax Warranty ...

Yes, that IS true, YNY … no argument, there.
I have a fairly new Pentax K-50. I don't OWN any Ricoh products.
Pentax was never mentioned in the call - only Ricoh.
That was my point, you see? Ricoh doesn't really care about Pentax.
The call indicated my RICOH product's warranty had expired - no mention of Pentax, whatsoever!
They did a search on you and found that you own something from RICOH so they called you. They didn't know that it was a Pentax camera.

Do you have a Ricoh Copier?
NO, but I once had a Minolta copier. Now, I have a Sharp - which creates that embossed look.
If you mean - an ALL-IN-ONE, I have several of those - including a LexMark, an Epson, NEC, HP, and Oki.
Never bought a Ricoh. Believe me, this wasn't about any copier, OR printer. This call was about my Pentax.
EVEN THOUGH - it never mentioned the name - Pentax.

OR - if it was a scammer, Bebu - as some have suggested, they saw the post I did on here, indicating the K-50 - had rolled off the cart it was on - in that curved design Adorama Slinger bag - I keep it in, and noted the black-out highlights, now flash on and off, all the time - driving me crazy, and so - thought they'd try and pull a fast one. Regarding CALLING them - I have NO such number. The K-50 I bought, was purchased - prior to the time of the Ricoh take-over - I believe, or - at least - MADE - prior to that occurrence, and any numbers, which were listed in the product's data sheets - no longer are valid. The USED K-3, purchased later - HAD the Ricoh label - on the bottom of the screen - an element I found - MOST disconcerting!!!!

Why, thank you, Richard … I shall investigate.
This, though, seems to be an independent company, catering to Pentax - NOT Pentax (nor, Ricoh.)

It was found via the Ricoh (America website).
In this day and age of deception, it makes good sense not to deal with anyone that contacts you first. While some may be ligit, most are probably a scam of some kind and if actual service is needed, it is far better to initiate the deal personally than to trust someone that could likely be a scammer. Good luck and good shooting to all.

Thanks, Bud. Your concerns are duly noted.

However it was FOUND, Richard - it is NOT coming up - which leads me to believe it's an independent concern. If it was related to Ricoh, or Pentax - chances are - it would have come up, by now.
Why don't you name it RXI? Ricoh eXpired Inspection? There you go; problem solved, it has a new name.

This site is a JOKE, Richard. DSLR isn't staying put. Complete waste of time!!!
You know why, don't you? … RICOH - no longer even MAKES DSLRs.
This, in spite of the fact - K-50 stays put. DSLR doesn't. Absolutely USELESS!

Ricoh called me at 9:50 this morning, waking me up. (I retired at 5am as I normally do.) They indicated my warranty on my Pentax product, had expired, and wanted to know, if I wished to extend the warranty coverage. It was a recording. At the end of it, the lady indicated, if I wanted to speak to a "Warranty Specialist" - I should press "1" … the only problem is - the phone I keep next to my bed, is an early Trimline
- which has NO buttons. My immediate response "this phone has NO buttons" … at which, it hung up!!! So, now what? … Incidentally, my K-50 suffered some internal damage, when the Adorama Slinger bag I keep it in, rolled off the cart, near the door - it now blinks, incessantly - so, I do need it looked at. But - how?

You might also find useful information on the Pentax Forums website:
www.pentaxforums.comI don't know of any way to determine if the phone call was fraudulent or not other than contacting Ricoh/Pentax. Even though it was stated that Ricoh was calling it still might, or might not, be fraudulent.
