[quote=VTdude]Hi,
I have a number of drones (one of which is a Mavic 2 Pro) and I’ll soon be 68. They are great tools for getting a different perspective as you state. I have always lusted after a Hasselblad, now I have one, a small one but a Hasselblad none the less. :-). It’s a great tool to have along on shoots.

Hi,
I have recently got into Drone photography. My drone came with a Hasselblat Camera with a 1" 20 Megapixel sensor. It takes awesome stills and video (up to 4K, 10 bit). I now take my drone AND my Canon 6D on my projects. I don't always launch the drone but it gives another perspective for adding to whatever project I'm working on at the time. I shoot in RAW with both cameras and post-edit. What technology is available these days!! It's amazing. And I'm 64, not in my 30's. Never too old to learn!
Is anyone else Droning as well? I haven't been here in a few months so excuse my question if there other discussion on the subject.

Very cool, sounds like an excellent drone (My son and I are Drone Guys). Have been doing the racing drone thing, and want to get into a better camera drone when $$ is available. They are fun. I DIY all my camera drones, but they are very budget, not like what you have. We race Walkera F210's and 150's. I'm 68, you are never to old as long as the body/mind work, and you're willing!!!! I'm jealous of your set-up, I'll get there one day!!! Have fun!!

Funny, you are almost an exact match to me and my interests. I am the same age as you, have a Canon 5D Mk IV, and a Mavic 2 Pro with Hasselblad camera. I just took my drone to the Kern River but I'm not really impressed with my work there. I didn't take my Canon out of it's case because it was very overcast and raining most of the time. Then I came down with a cold and really put a damper on things.
I suggest you get some of the ND filters that are made for your drone. I always have one on my Mavic.

What kind of drone?
A member from Australia often posts drone videos and stills.
Yes Earl aka DOOK uses a DJI Phantom 4 Pro +
On occasion I have posted photos taken with my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced.
Have fun.

I've used and sold a DJI 2 Vision, and now own both the DJI Phantom 3 and 4 Pro+. The P4P+ has the same sensor as my RX10 III & IV and yields very similar image quality. Very happy with the results.
I always shoot RAW format (and won't buy a camera that doesn't support RAW).
And yes, having the drone in the back seat always gives you the option to pop up above the surroundings and view the scenery.
I like creating mosaics and landscape panoramas from drone images. I also use it to check on the cattle and horses on our ranch.
Enjoy your drone and fly safely!

P.S.: I'm 72; never too old to learn (and have fun)!
P.S.2: I use Affinity Photo on Windows to create my mosaics and panoramas.

I went with the Mavic 2 Zoom, also an awesome camera, I mostly shoot video with it. Amazing stabilizer on the Mavic series, super smooth even on windy days.

I would love to have the Zoom if it had a 1" sensor!

You would be surprised, the image quality difference is minor.

I've had the Phantom 2 Vision, 3 Pro and 4 Pro+:
- P2V: 1/2.3” CMOS, 14 MP, ~17 mm (35 mm format equivalent), FOV 110°
- P3P: 1/2.3” CMOS, 12.76 MP, 20 mm, FOV 94°
- P4P+: 1’’ CMOS, 20 MP, 24 mm, FOV 84°
- Mavic 2 Zoom: 1/2.3" CMOS, 12 MP, 24-48mm, FOV 83°-~48°
I see a noticeable difference in image quality, particularly low light performance, between the P3P and P4P+. I suspect the difference is due to the 1/2.3" vs. 1" sensor; however, the 20mm vs. 24mm does make a difference. I found the same difference when going from Panasonic cameras with 1/2.3" sensors to the Sony RX10 III & IV with 1" sensors.
However, the 24-48mm zoom is a big game changer AND almost convinced me I needed one BUT the 1/2.3" sensor was, for me, the no-go decision. I'm sure there will be a zoom w/ 1" sensor at some point in the future? I saved my bucks on a new drone and bought low noise props for my P4P+, actually makes quite a difference in noise level.

Shooting 4K video it is tough to see a difference with good lighting. I would have gone for the pro model but the zoom was on sale locally for under $900. Before I purchased it I looked at someone’s 4K video comparing both cameras and it was basically the same so I went for the zoom.

For 4K video I would agree. You might notice a difference in low light but that is probably about the only difference.
