Hi jig1000, I carry an old Lumix DMC ZS50 almost everywhere for its wide focal length capabilities and damn good picture quality. I've also started to carry an Olympus EM10 MkII, or MkIII which will fit in my pocket with the kit pancake lens (14-42mm EZ). The size of this lens makes pocket carry easier but the focal limit is a drawback. Therefore the temptation to haul an extra lens is strong, defeating the "pocket-carry" thing somewhat. There are more compact Olys but they lack an EVF(View finder) which I use in bright sunlight. BTW, The ZS50 does have an EVF, unusual in this class of camera. I keep returning to it as my pocket-cam of choice.

Well I always carry a smartphone (it's like my right hand) - so there is always that camera - not the best for all situations but good for a once in a lifetime shot perhaps. But those shots are relatively rare and you can always grab that shot the next time around in many cases, especially at street fairs.

On weekends I usually carry the D7200 with 2 lenses...during the week it's a bit rough carrying that to work along with my laptop and other crap.

I did recently get a huge camera bag that could also accommodate my laptop, accessories as well as the body and a few lenses - problem is it gets H-E-A-V-Y so I abandoned that to carry every day.

I do have an Oly 14 MP pocket cam but I don't usually take it even though it is small and has good IS.

I try always to carry a camera with me, at least the one in the cellphone. Yo never know what you can find.

I also like to take long walks on weekends, on which I carry my trusty Sony RX100M3 in a belt pouch.

Last Saturday I took one of my walks at dusk, and forgot to take the camera with me. I had a second opportunity 2 o 3 blocks from home, but for no reason I decided not to go back ad grab it... after all, I was about to complete the same circuit as ever, and there should not be anything new, right?

Wrong.

Big, BIG, mistake.

As I was 5 o 6 kilometers from home, I discovered an unexpected food-truck fest on the riverside with live music, classic cars and even two restored vintage firetrucks !

They started to light fireworks !!

And I didn't even carry a crappy cellphone !!

And worst of all, because of my schedule, I knew that I had no time to WALK home and DRIVE back to take any pictures.

So, I learned the hard way: always, ALWAYS carry a camera, or whatever thing capable of taking pictures.

Next time, I might just miss that one historical UFO landing with aliens willing to pose for the camera :-)
I try always to carry a camera with me, at least t... (show quote)

When I don’t have the DSLRs with me I carry my Nikon Coolpix S9600. 22x and 16mp. Easy to carry in a pocket. Makes fine images when all you want is a P&S.

Yes very much the same. I usually have the RX100 4 with me. It takes great images.
One thing that shocked me with my knowledge of Sony mirrorless cameras a7s II, A6300 RX10 III, XDCamcoreder etc

Someone asked me to get a few comments at a expo. With the RX!00 4 I ad never used the
built in mic. I have good sound mics etc. Anyway this camera (my 3rd RX!00) had the worse
sound recording I ever hard. I thought I did something wrong but couldnt some. My cell phone would
do a better job. Just an anecdote.

I always carry two cameras in the car just in case, a Sony DSC W-830 and Nikon Coolpix 100.
I do a lot of floral photos and whenever I see a possible shot, I’m ready and I have been greatly rewarded.
The shots are so good I can go to PS on my IPAD and get a variety of looks and print up to 13”x17” in amazing clarity from both cameras. My printer is an Epson XP-960 with excellent color/bw.

That was ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky in January 1983, although this is disputed by some commentators.

I guess I'm in the minority; I don't think that taking a picture is the most important thing I can do. I take my camera when I intend to document something but when I go out I just don't worry about it anymore. I mean, who cares if I get another picture of a red corvette or something? If I get pictures of some fireworks?

I found that when my focus was on "watching out for pictures" I let life pass me by, I wasn't enjoying the present but planning the next shot.

I used to take a camera everywhere I went but not anymore.

Now my film rolls are filled with pictures that mean something; not endless shots that have no lasting value for me. I take less and keep more.

I always carry a Canon ELPH on my bicycle rides. I've gotten many photos that are special to me... They are recorded memories of very special moments and not necessarily meant for publication..
