A lens not mentioned here would be the 60mm micro-Nikkor. This 90mm equivalent on DX camera.

Sorry, but the angle of view is still 60mm! Even on DX!
- DX is a cropped Full Frame... The angle of view remains the same...60mm! Equivalent to 90mm only means the image is cropped from 60mm as if you enlarged/cropped on a photo enlarger in a darkroom. The view is the same only cropped closer!!

60mm is the focal length, not the angle of view. Yes, that’s still going to be 60mm and that determines the size of the subject and other things in the image. The angle or field of view is changed by the size of the sensor.

Agreed. I have both full frame lenses (105 & 85). The 105 is tack sharp. The 85 will allow you to get a bit closer or put more people in the photo.

Can a Nikon - AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED Macro Lens be used for portraits?

Of course it can and does. However, you may have to stand off a bit...

Cheers!
