Nice to see peoples who don't try to push their way of life into others.

They certainly push their way of life on their children. Should they decide not to follow the religion and all its rules, the whole community, including their own family, officially shun them. Should their family not shun them, then they are shunned.

I understand at least as bad as it is they keep their dirty laundry inside,

I didn't say that was right but compare to "another way of life" they don't force you to like it or try to kill you or tax you.

What image? And this is the Chit-Chat forum, specifically allowing "non-photography" talk. You opened the door with your comment extolling the wonderful characteristics of the Amish. Maybe if you observed the Amish from a bit closer than "afar" you might see what is really going on. And if you consider the exposition of facts as a "rant" then I can see that any intelligent discourse in this thread is most unlikely. Do have a good day...

What percentage of the Amish engage in puppy mills?

My guess is a small number but any is too much! If I had my way anyone convicted of any kind of animal abuse would be given an automatic sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

I agree, but let's not taint all Amish for the actions of a few. I remember when a individual walked into an Amish school in 2006 shooting 8 girls, killing 5 before killing himself. Even the parents of the children were willing to forgive him. I don't know that I could.

I read about that and that they kill the females when they are to old to breed. I have no love for the Amish

And lets not forget how they " de-bark" their dogs so that no one can hear the agony.

As a community, the Amish are the largest operators of these cruel and inhumane operations in the country. Not all Amish run puppy mills, but a very large percentage of puppy mills in this country are run by Amish.
