Hi Dave. I like it. I thought the gate helped to joins the two parts of the picture together. The two distant figures are a master stroke, very subtle. I also note the texture looks like a rough water colour paper so will look fantastic as a larger version. I think Turner would have been impressed.

Hello Alan, good to hear from you. I thought you might like to see the original so have attached it here. These engines immediately make me think of Turner - and I'm sure you can guess why! Today I went off to get some viaduct shots, not entirely successful as I couldn't get to track level (not that a track exists) but some from ground level may prove useful. I don't want to copy JMWT exactly, just use the idea behind a composite. I shall post in due course if it works.
Many thanks for your comments, they are appreciated.

Beautiful work. I wonder if incorporating the way steam dissipates over distance might fit into your impression. I used the Burn tool @10 with a soft brush down the side of the boiler, plus some touches elsewhere.

Thank you Bob. I have tried to give that impression - and need to compare your version side-by-side with mine to see your changes. Flying up and down the page trying to spot subtle differences doesn't work too well! Nice of you to take the time to give it a try and I understand what you want to achieve, so I'm sure I'll spot the difference once I get them together.
