Excellent set Rockdog.

Thanks Jim, this land is a contrast to your beautiful "green and pleasant land" post.

Very nice. I didn't see a lot of smoke effect.

Thank you David I appreciate the comment. The effect was more at play in the second and third shots. It was an influence on the light all over the west last year and it may well be again this year....

Phil, these are beautiful! In number 3 the smoke provides a moody feel but it is still a lovely shot. The fall colors in the other three are warm and rich. I'm glad you finally decided to post them!

Thanks Carol! Two and three were the ones most impacted by the smoky air. The last shot was clear morning light.

Bridgeport is a great place to stay for access to Bodie State Park. I always stay at the Walker River Lodge. I just wish there were better places to eat in town.

Agree on all three of your statements, thanks for the comment.

Interesting scenes. I want to travel down that road!

Hi Bill, you would love every mile of that road. Highway 395 goes from Mexico to Canada in the rainshadow of the Sierra Nevada and the Cascade Ranges. Thanks for the visit.

My favorite trans Sierra passes will soon be open for me to visit beautiful east Sierra spots along Highway 395. These were taken last fall and I held off posting them because I wasn't sure I liked the effect of the smoky air., but I have grown to like them. Posting them may push me to get back over the mountains sooner! In order, these were taken north, west, east and south of beautiful Bridgeport Ca. The third shot was from Travertine Hot Springs, overlooking Bridgeport. These might look a little better in download.
