Yikes! Just when you think the GOP can't get any worse for women...

You know; the right wingers tout they are against abortion yet they have no problem sending our troops into wars that we haven't paid for. Some of them like Ryan say they are gun loving catholics. Meaning guns and religion go hand and hand. What kind of crazy talk is that? Just goes to show you that the Republican Party has been infiltrated by the crazies of the Tea Party far right and this country's voters Republican and Democratic alike better wake up and smell the roses before it's too late to smell the roses. The Republican circus next week is going to be like going to the sucker alley at a big state fair exhibition.
quote=greymule Constitutional Amendment Limiting ... (show quote)

You're spinning that completely out of context. You know what Ryan was referencing, don't you? Obama's statement about non-leftist Americans "clinging to guns and religion". Look it up if you really missed that.
quote=Hunter Lou 1947 quote=greymule Constitutio... (show quote)

Oh, I know what I referred to. The right wingers want to have everyone believe that President Obama is against them owning guns. He's one who believes that we need a to curtail the use of AK-47 and like guns. He also has spoken that the need for some kind of regulation on the size of clips. this in no way means he's against citizens having the right to bear arms. The way the crazies think he's coming to take their guns. That's what the right wingers want those who support them to believe so they can claim the votes. This is plan non responsible leadership coming from the far right. I'm a gun owner and own three guns and in no way any hand gun, armor piercing bullets or any AK-47 like guns. I own and use my guns for the purpose of hunting and not for the purpose of killing people. I don't need a clip that holds more than 5 rounds nor a weapon that can carry a clip that shoots more than 5 rounds. We need common sense people being elected. These people need to be exposed to the voters who are out there advocating excessive styles of ownership rights in guns. That is why we also need for a candidate to expose to the voters what his tax returns have been over several years. We need to know what that candidate would do to reform campaign financing or what kind of tax reform we can expect to see coming forward if he or she is elected. The average voter needs to be more educated of who they are electing and for a candidate to want to hide something gives the impression that he orhe is not being honest.

If you think that idiot Akins is speaking for the whole Republican Party then why have the Republican Committee, and Romney called for him to drop out of the race in November. He is an embarrassment to his party, his gender and his species. The Republican platform will not say what you want it to say, but it won't say what Akins want either.

actually and literally as you watch the GOP convention you will see for yourself as a party - they support making it a crime for a woman to have an abortion. Although on the plus side they also say it is not a crime for a bank to commit fraud.

As far as the Republican platform goes, all we have to do is wait a week. All will be revealed. Well, enough of it to sense the direction the Republicans want to take. Assuming, of course, that the embarrassment of the Akin foot-in-mouth incident doesn't make them duck and cover.

G'bye all. It is with sadness I leave this thread, but I haven't enough energy for arguing and name calling. If any of this bickering changes your mind about how you are going to vote, send me a PM and let me know. Otherwise it is starting to sound like students from rival junior high schools yelling at each other. It doesn't do any good or change any minds, but the catharsis is sure fun. Ta Ta for now.

This is fact, not hyperbole. You really don't think Republicans are supporting this? Get your head out of the sand and read.

Scott, I completely understand your reluctance to believe this as it is unbelievable that this is still an issue with anyone. However, the Republican party is the minority party in terms of registered members in this country. They must pander to the fringe elements of society in order to gain elected office. The social issues of abortion, gay marriage, gun control and immigration are all topics that people get worked up about. These are simple subjects that many people have already formed opinions about. Tax plans, budget concerns and other more important issues are often so complex that the average person tunes out on the message so the politicians use the social issues to get the voter's attention. The financial backers of the Republican party have an agenda that includes the elimination of legal abortions in this country. In order to get the check from their backers the Republicans must put the issues on the ballot. The pious nature of the backers is and always will be their downfall in the wider political arena. By including this plank in their platform the Republican party fulfills their obligation to their backers. Social issues cut both directions and with the majority of Americans against such a stringent reformation of an existing law the likelihood of the Republicans gaining votes from such a position is very small. They will lose more votes than they gain.

My great grandfather told me not to believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. I think half was too generous, especially in the media or on the Internet. Look at the Tony Scott reporting for an example of shoddy, uninvestigated work.

L.A.??? When has the Huffington post ever correctly published an opposing point of view. They have NEVER had an open mind nor do they have anybody but a bunch Leftists contributing comments. They censor or just don't print opposing view points.
It's egghead central! Kind of like the LA times and the NY Times. People wonder why they only get one point of view.

Keep watching Fox. It's fair and balanced. Your remarks are without substance and are silly. Those egghead elitists. I know the ones of whom you speak. Those eggheads that went to college, then on to further degrees. Being intelligent is NOT something you would want to emulate.

You've got to be kidding. That's the most slanted news program on T.V. The most inexperienced journalists around. Hannity is nothing but a mouthpiece for the Republican far right.
