I don't know what your budget is but the manfrotto 685B is raised and lowered with a press of the trigger just below the grip as you step on the foot plate. No pressure clips to release makes it really fast to use.
I use a tilt head with Nikon's 70-200 and 200-500.

Below is an excellent cheap monopod in case you want to try one out but not sure how much you will use it. It's actually a very good monopod so it may be all you'd ever need...

The BEST available (and you will pay appropriately) is RRS along with Gitzo, IMHO. I am presently using a Gitzo Carbon Fiber model with an RRS Tilt Head and clamp. Twist locks may not be the easiest, but they are the strongest and best. Best of luck.

I got my top end Gitzo and RRS dual tilt head on eBay for about 2/3 of retail in excellent condition. Good deals can be found on eBay if you know what you want, it’s value and have some patience to keep watching...

Looks just like the Amazon one....one of the manufacturers is making these for third party distribution.

I use the PROMASTER PROFESSIONAL MPV428+ CONVERTIBLE. It has detachable feet with ball base. Holds my D850 with a 150-600mm without a problem. Maximum load is 13lbs and the monopod weight is 1.5lbs. They also have the PROMASTER PROFESSIONAL MPV4328+ CONVERTIBLE. Its maximum load is 13lbs and the monopod weight is 2lbs. Both are very reasonable priced at 90.00 and 120.00.

I prefer monopods with flip locks, for the legs, as it means if your hands are wet it is easier to set up than if using twist locks.
I use Manfrotto monopods.

I am looking for a reasonable monopod to support my Canon 80D and 150-600mm lens. I also would like some advice on using a ball head, gimbal head or just a tilt head. I really don't know much about this at all. There is so much out there i am at a loss. Thanks

Here are two links to past UHH discussions on monopods, ball heads and tilt heads:

You might want to look at these since they may have tidbits of info not addressed in the current discussion.

Most of the top notch tripods are twist lock. I have both kinds and prefer the twist.

Sure... they would work well with mitts on, too.

For me, twist locks are easier since I don’t have to fumble for an lock/unlock lever. I also had lever locks break and parts (manfrotto) not available. Twist locks are easier to disassemble for monopod cleaning. Many flip locks are not adjustable.
