Probably.
My external is my backup for my PC: images, documents, spreadsheets, etc.
Currently about 180 Gb each backup. I don't have a thumb drive large enough.

That's what I thought. I have over 16,000 photos (not that many compared to some). Wonder how many Photosticks I would need for backup?
I am seeing a Samsung 128 GB USB 3.1 flash drive, speed up to 300MB/s for about $25. The fastest Sandisk 128 GB flash drive is $44. The Photostick is "on sale" for $79.95. Now, if a person doesn't know where their image files are, and doesn't know how to copy files - which is pretty common, sadly - I would recommend spending 30 minutes learning that very simple and basic skill rather than throwing money away. I hesitate to call it a "skill" since more skill is involved in putting away the groceries.

Once one understands the computer directory/file structure and copying, it becomes simple.

No, the Photostick hoovers your hard disk and finds "all" images. Think how many jpegs and pngs are in temp internet folders, etc.
What I am concerned with is the potential for malware going into your system and lurking

Yup, every single one.

Possibly, depending on where (from whom) the stick was obtained.

If, like a Hoover, it would leave the quality threads of the carpet alone and just suck up the dirt, it could be useful!
For Android, get an OTG cable and any thumb drive and just copy or move the whole folder. OTG cables run about $3.

These "memory sticks" for photos only are being advertised from 8gb to 128gb. Amazon has them as well as the web site for photostick. Big difference in price. Seems to be a love/hate feedback. Any members tried them out. Thanks
I only use thumb drives and have for several years. Work very well.
I ordered two and received them. Before opening and using them I read the Amazon reviews and sent them back - got full refund with no problem.
Even the 3GB model is a no brainer, compared to the Photostick.
The only difference is the software included with the photostick and I generally do not use any software included with thumb drive or external hard drive.
